We can now add the strange, wild world of Cannon Films to the places we have visited with 1985's LIFEFORCE.   And that's not all. We weren't able to make it to the Patio Theater's Sci-Fi Spectacular this year, so instead we decide to come up with our own unofficial marathon. Nat, Cody, and Robert have delved into a few little known gems in the past, and we're pleased to add 1985's THE QUIET EARTH by Geoff Murphy to that list. It's a quasi-remake of , which we covered all the way back in , but with its own unique spin and willingness to sidestep some of the traps that the earlier film fell into. It's a little out of our usual bally-wick, we don't often sit down to watch 1937 Jewish fantasy films from Poland in Yiddish, but as you can tell from that description it's a very unique film.

THX 1138 was met with little interest by the general public in 1971, but it turns out that we had a lot to say about it with discussions ranging from what kind of government was Lucas trying to describe, to auto-erotic CGI inserts, to preserving films as historical documents, to the common threads that run through George Lucas's work. We discuss Lucas's efforts to spiff up the original version and whether it's successful or not. Also, Nat and Paul whip out George Lucas impersonations.

John Lang, John Reineke, and John Almirall activate the oscillation overthruster this month for a visit with 1984's cult film THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI ACROSS THE 8TH DIMENSION.
