Where the Long Tail Ends

It creeps. It crawls. It kills. Robert, Nat, and Cody are joined by Director's Club Podcaster Emeritus Patrick Ripoll as we confront 1955's THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT aka THE CREEPING UNKNOWN and 1957's QUATERMASS 2 aka ENEMY FROM SPACE and attempt to discover if there's any room for personal feelings in science or who's scarier, creatures from the unknown or Brian Donlevy.

Cody, Robert, and Nat experience sensory deprivation and psychedelic hallucinations this month with Ken Russell's ALTERED STATES. Perhaps surprisingly, we're able to make sense of the trippy film and we take sides in the behind the scenes fighting between Ken Russell and Paddy Chayefsky. Also, find out who once fell asleep during the film and woke up to be frightened out of his wits by primal man. I think it's an interesting discussion. As a bonus, we take a look back at two major science fiction films of the year, THE MARTIAN and EX MACHINA.

Robert, Nat, and Cody weren't going to get left out of the All Hallows Lee conversations. To that end, we looked at three films from the late 1960s when Christopher Lee was transitioning from Gothic villain to more diverse roles with The Torture Chamber of Dr. Sadism from Germany, The Devil Rides Out from Hammer films, and Scream and Scream Again set in swinging London.
