Doug Shipman has never run for elected office but he’s no stranger to the city. He worked with then Mayor Shirley Franklin to create the Center for Civil and Human Rights. He most recently was the CEO of the Woodruff Arts Center.

In this interview, you’ll hear Doug talk about growing up in rural Arkansas, how the City Council can better counter Atlanta’s “strong mayor” form of government, and why he thinks we need transit on the Atlanta BeltLine.
