Tragedy to victory

I loved how the book highlighted the importance of family and how family is defined in the story. And how one person can rise above extremely difficult circumstances and not just survive but thrive. It also showed the power and necessity of forgiveness. I saw a lot of my own life in this story. It was heart-wrenching and thought provoking. And I loved the ending.

Generic

I have never read anything from this writer and I found it very generic. That the writer just put some information into the computer and changed the names, story line a bit and produced the story. Some people like these books as they are easy reading but I like to get involved in the character and this character was just ok with me

Last one Home

A change for Macomber. Her main character is a strong person, a real survivor. I could not put this book down I had to see what happens next. This could be written into a trilogy...I would love to follow the sisters lives to see where they are next.

Good Read

I enjoyed this story. Debbie Macomber has a special way of writing about family and relationship issues that many people deal with in life. She makes me feel the pain and joy as they go through their problems and find ways to come out with a happy ending.

Good Read

Excellent story by an excellent author. Cassie and her story are a wonderful homage to the volunteers and organizations that help abused women and the homeless find their way out of desperation into a world of success and security. Well done.

Changing the Future

What did you love best about Changing the Future?

First, let me say that I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest review. I am very happy Stevie Zimmerman (the narrator) was kind enough to gift me with this book because I may not have listened to it or bought it otherwise. It's a modern day romance written by Paula Martin and narrated by Stevie Zimmerman. The story itself was very well written, the characters had depth and emotion, and the premise of the story is one that many can relate to. Stevie did a wonderful job narrating the story bringing the characters to life. I love that this was set in England and obviously needed a narrator with an excellent English accent and dialect. One of the things I liked best was that the English often use different words than Americans do as well as often pronouncing those words in a different manner or with different inflection. She was impecable in her narration of "Changing the Future". I can't wait to let my friend from England have a listen as she will just adore hearing the narration. (vs. our Southern pronunciation of words and phrases..LOL)While Stevie was a new narrator for me to hear, I am most definately adding her to my list of "good" ones I enjoy listening to. Since this was not only the first time I've listened to Stevie's talent, it was also the first book I've read/listened to, by Paula Martin. I will most definitely have both on my radar now and look for other works by each. I'd easily recommend this book/audio book to anyone who loves an exciting romance story filled with very real emotion and situations, but those who love listening to a really good English accent/dialect.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Changing the Future?

For me one of the most memorable moments in the story was when Fiona, due to her jealous, possessive nature, took obvious enjoyment in trying to ruin Lisa's budding renewal of her relationship with Paul.

Which character as performed by Stevie Zimmerman was your favorite?

My favorite character was Lisa of course...

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several moments that moved me in the book, but if I explained them, I'd be giving away too much of the story and possibly ruining the experience for others readers.

A+...Great story and great narrator!

Very sweet second chance love story with a HEA ending (my kind of stories).

Though "contemps" are not my favorite when I find one like this I know why some do prefer them.

First time author for me, Paula Martin is a name I'll keep in mind.

As usual Stevie Zimmerman did one heck of a job on it.

I like how she can switch from male to female to kids voices, intonation and accents etc.

I knew she was good.

Read Brother's Huge series instead. Stay away!

It was weird and disappointing. Brother's Huge series is much better. I read "Billionare" after that and was really looking forward to more scandalous fun but the nympho mother and daughter were what I got. The characters were not very believable either. Just skip this one.

Members Reviews:

For those who enjoy historical romance novels, I said romance not heavy sex, this is the book for you. The story has characters

The story line followed many family members and expertly took me into their thoughts. I was pleasantly surprised that there was little jealousy when it came to who inherited the family estate. Families took care of their own . The story line also opened my mind as to how parents chose the wife or husband for each child, considering the dowry that would come to ensure a strong future for the couple. The book was hard to put down until finished leaving me wanting more when done.

I finished the book but did not enjoy it very much

I finished the book but did not enjoy it very much. This story was all over the place, some chapters were good and just when you were looking forward to what happened next it would jump to another time & place. Not a good flow

Decent Read

This story had a lot of little stories going on along with the main story. You got a little feel for everyone in the book. I find it hard to finish though.

Sure to delight and surprise fans of hist fic

I've read two of Pamela Oldfield's Heron Saga books before, and found this one to be a lovely step up in quality. The Kendal family are battling their way through trials and tribulations in 16th century Devon, while son Luke finds himself lovestruck by the wild Isobel. There's some really gripping drama here, though at times overwrought. A solid addition to the genre, and surely pleasing for most fans of historical romance.

Super short not quite complete story

So I went into this knowing it was s short story. What I didn't realize is that this story ends at 34% making it super short. I read this in 30 minutes. It was a cute little story with a few editing errors but I was expecting more when all of a sudden the story ended. No epilogue, no angst really and no real answer as to how Jonathan and Mia ended up. I can make assumptions but that's not what I want when reading, I want the story teller to finish the story. It was an ok read for Kindle Unlimited but I did not read the other two books because that was not the story I wanted.
