    Captivating!
Not your typical historical romance, this story has strong, passionate characters filled conviction about their beliefs. When the love story didn't unfold as planned I was stunned, but didn't lose interest in the story. The author wove a compelling storyline into historical fact and that added to the story's captivating effect. I highly recommend this to fans of Jo Beverly and Linda Needham whose historical romances tend to have more "weight" than most.
    Enjoyable
I liked this book...did not LOVE but liked it very much. I did not like certain parts (cant give anything away so dont want to be specific)..but you knew there was still a happy ending to come, there always is. I like the length but felt the story was a little drawn out over a long period of time...Overall, a good buy and as always i like the narrator..i have read reviews where some do not but i like her.
    I loved it!
when i read the reviews i was reluctant to purchase this audiobook. However it was an epic story!
A rich historical story . If there is inaccuracies , well it is fiction. There is also sensual and sweet romance. The Narrator's voice even lulled my little shih tzus, they wagged their tales when I played the audio!
    Just O.K.
Just Ok....I prefer historical romances with more action and adventure, villains, and strong women who aren't afraid to stand up to there man and are hard to catch. This book didn't have an exciting, adventurous story. Additionally, the author has a tendency to repeat the same exact thing over and over and over again and it started to irritate me.
main characters were too busy, too much jump aroun
    What disappointed you about Infamous?
Too much confusion too early for these characters
What do you think your next listen will be?
Lee Child's book (Bad Luck) was excellence, maybe I'll listen to something of his, again. I'm a romantic, at heart, but I love detective, fbi, cia stuff, lately or David Balducci.
How could the performance have been better?
To have let the main character stand out more
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment because I was looking forward reading Henley again. Back in the early 90sI'd like her story telling.
    Any additional comments?
I really love my Kindle Fire and what I love most is "Audible.com" because there are times when I can't sit and read, but I can listen out loud or use my headphone. I LOVE AUDIBLEBOOKS.

    This is book 2
This is book 2 of the series. I wish they would tell you that. I would have liked to have heard book 1 first, had I known
Book 2 The lights of Lowell Series
I liked this book better than the first book in the series. Lots of characters with intertwined story lines. I am left wanting more, hoping those missing will be found. I am ready to dive into book 3!
Narration slow, but storyline is good
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Same as book 1 & book 3, pauses in the narration mid sentence or when someone is supposed to be cutting in on a conversation.
    Very enjoyable!
What did you love best about A Love Woven True?
The writing is so descriptive that I found myself in another world and the characters are
so believable that I quickly related to them and their situations. Since I'm a history buff, I particularly enjoyed the political turmoil that was going on pre-civil war and how families of the North and South dealt with slaves and the Underground Railroad.
It was interesting to see how a Northern woman's love for her freed slaves and their child completely upset her Southern family.
Lots of historical information about this time period. Well written and interesting.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters - each so different in speech and mannerisms.
What does Linda Stephens bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Her readings enhanced the emotional feelings of the characters. Enjoyed the Southern conversations.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was saddened by the way slaves were treated, even the freed slaves, knowing how long it would be before they would have any rights.
    Any additional comments?
Excellent book. Not preachy at all, but shows characters living in hard times depending on God for guidance and aid.
    Wonderful writing and story!
Would you consider the audio edition of A Love Woven True to be better than the print version?
The audio edition was wonderful. It made you feel like you were part of the story.

Foul luck has caused the dashing American millionaire Sam Cody to miss his own wedding to an unforgiving bride...for the second time! Worse still, he's stuck in the middle of nowhere with a straight-laced noble beauty. But there is an unmistakable spark of courage, sensuality, and wild passion beneath Liddy's prim exterior, daring Sam to pursue even further what his heart and his soul now desperately desire - even though both the Texan's and the lady's vastly different worlds will be rocked if they dare surrender to...indiscretion.
Judith Ivory's lush, lyrical romances have won multiple RITA awards and are highly praised by authors, including Amanda Quick.

    Members Reviews:
    Well-written Regency romance
I have to confess, I love Judith Ivory books, she is (IMHO) one of the best authors in the genre. In fact, I read this book in paper a few years back, so got it as an Audible book as I knew it would be a sure-thing (well-written, interesting characters). Sadly, I have to admit this is probably the weakest of the Ivory books I have read (check out Beast and Sleeping Beauty for the best), but that said, a medicore Ivory book still rises to the top of the historical romance titles.
The story is a little slow to start, and towards the end there is a "misunderstanding" to move the plot along (I find such devices overused in the genre, but Ivory handles it well). If you are looking for a well-written Regency romance, with a few touches of humour, and some memorable characters, then you cannot go wrong here.
And the narrator does well -- our hero is an American, and heroine a British aristrocrat. She keeps the accents straight, and adds to the telling of the story.
    Overall - 4.5 stars.
    Addicting
This is one of the best romances I have listened to.
It is Nobility meets a Cowboy at its finest.
The narrator is one of the best I have heard, (even though you can hear her making strange noises, maybe swallowing?) Her changing from a southern drawl to an english accent is effortless, and accurate, and before you know it, you are hooked.
I do not normally leave reviews, but felt I needed to, I wanted to make sure there was another 5 stars added.
    Aural Joy!
Judith Ivorys Victorian era "lady and the cowboy" story would have been a light, enjoyable read on its own, but the narrator, Barbara Rosenblatt, breathed life into Liddy and Sam. She narrated the book in a non descript American accent, then gave Liddy an upper class British accent that was somehow filled with humor, vulnerability, and playfulness. And the fact that a woman was doing Sams voice was lost to me in seconds because his mumbly Texas drawl WAS Sam. I think I smiled through most of this audio book. What a JOY this was to listen to!
    Very entertaining and well done.
I really liked this audio book although I've never read/listened to anything by this author. The reader is excellent and did a great job with Sam's and Lydia's characters. I usually don't think female readers do well voicing male characters, but this reader was right on the mark. My highest compliment is that I've already listened to it a second time and just love the story and the reading. Definitely a keeper and I love that it's Unabridged.

If you could sum up Prairie Moon in three words, what would they be?
It was one of the most enjoyable audio books that I have listened to in a long time. I love anything Ruth Ann Phimister narrates. A must have book to add to your collection.
    Boring
Not worth the time or trouble. Characters appear with no introduction. I never was able to finish this.

A Heartwarming Tale of Forbidden Love
Sir Hardwin de Studley of Seagrave, also known as Hardwick, was cursed to spend forever pleasing women nightly but never finding his own release by a passing bard/wizard who he turned away from his castle because he thought the man was out to murder nobles that were under his roof. Hardwick has gone to the Dark One asking for the curse he's carried for 700 years to be lifted. All he has to do is go one year and a day without becoming aroused. He chooses a retirement home in the present day wilds of Scotland to spend his time so he can find his everlasting peace when the time is up. Little does he know that an American woman will walk into his world and shake his control and threaten everything he is working towards.
Cilla Swanner has been deeply hurt by a man she gave her heart to and goes to her aunt and uncle in Scotland to recover from a broken heart and a broken business. She starts seeing a handsome Highlander and comes to realize he is a ghost. Her aunt sees him too and when she learns that Cilla is starting to care for this ghost, and that he in turn cares for her niece, she encourages the match. Hardwick goes to the Dark One asking for one night with Cilla but when he does the Dark One asks for Cilla's soul in return. Hardwick rejects this and is whisked away from the Dark One.
Trouble is brewing at Dunroamin Castle and Hardwick, with the help of some of his ghostly friends, start to unravel the problem. He is finding that he cannot conjure his ghostly abilities and when he chases after Cilla to stop her from going into danger he finds that even darkness holds light and his wishes come to life. With the help of a ghostly Viking couple, and even the Dark One, Hardwick and Cilla find a way to save Dunroamin Castle and their love for each other.
This was a heartwarming tale of forbidden love packed with hilarious situations and wonderful secondary characters. It left me feeling that no matter how unattainable something may seem, if our heart and soul want something bad enough, nothing is beyond reach.

I loved all three of the Ravenscraig Legacy books that Allie McCray has written, but I enjoyed this one the best. Seven hundred years of satisfying women has been the curse of Hardwick, also known as Sir Hardwin de Studley. He took the curse and all it entailed with all the charm and pleasure as most men would, until it finally became something he loathed to do! He makes his plea in the underworld to be rid of the curse, and finally have peace. He is granted the opportunity to break the curse by going for a year without becoming aroused by a woman.

    Loved the sequel!
Second Chance Hearts is the sequel I had been hoping for to Scarred Hearts. I was not disappointed. The only thing I wish the author had done was 'remind' us of the story of Clair and Nathan. It is obvious that there was a lot of time between the 2 books in their time, so it would be nice to have a bit more background. It just would have made it stand alone a bit better. All in all, I loved the story of Rebecca and Chance and Billi Tiner brought all of the loose ends together as I had hoped. As for Rebecca Roberts...well...she continues to get better and better. Love her character voices and her narration. Soothing voice when it needs to be and rough and scary at the right time. I love how I don't have to wait for her to say 'Chance said' to know which character is speaking.
I would definitely recommend this book!!
    a nice love story
this is a nice love story with all the bad guys finally getting their just recompence. lots of twists and turns. .. but all is finally well...the new family ... well... you will just to read or listen to it! it didn't grab my attention like I thought it would...but all in all, it was a nice story.

    A Beautiful Love Story
I got this book from audiobook boom. This was a quick fully developed love story. with all of the full meaning of the words. There was trepidation, angst, death, new life, lost and a strong snow storm as well as the love of a set of sisters for each other that extended to an old man who had lost his ability to speak but learned what it was to continue to love because of the sign language that the deft sister taught him. I loved the ending. The narration was very well done and brought the story alive.

Noah is a widower who lost his wife, 18 month old son and father had a stroke. He gets a mail order bride to be a helpmate, not to love. He is a good but stubborn man.

Noah's ad. They are married by proxy but upon meeting discover each has kept secrets. Annie comes to care. for Nash and he fights his growing feelings for Annie feeling disloyal to his first wife.
Liking both Noah and Annie you anxiously wait to see what happens between them. A sweet story taking place when life is hard.
The narrator had such a sweet voice for Annie and a good voice for Noah
I enjoyed the story and the narration and would happily listen to more!
    I want more!
What did you like best about this story?
Annie's attempts at making bread, it added a lovely element of humor which balanced really well with the challenging dynamic between her and Noah.
What does Melanie Hastings bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Excellent characters voices that brought the story to life. I enjoyed the narration it flowed really well.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I would have if my commute to work was longer, I had for make myself pause it when I arrived since I would have preferred to finish the book.
    Any additional comments?
This story is short but it covers a whole range of emotions, its funny, sweet, a little sad in parts and has a lovely ending.
Note: I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in return for an honest review.
    Great narration!
The narrator's voice is clear, serene and pleasant which added enjoyment to this interesting novel.
    Sweet old school romance
This was a really sweet story. I loved the quaint homey feel it had to it. Even though Noah and Annie get off to a rocky start I liked how they didn't just give up like people do now. Melaine did a wonderful job narrating.

That they might fall in love had never occurred to her!
    Members Reviews:
Not author's best, but reader makes it enjoyable
While IMO this isn't one of Stephanie Laurens best books, it's made enjoyable by good narration. I was disappointed by the rather unimaginative plot and predictable storyline, but the reader brought the place, time and all the characters vividly to life which saved it for me. I found her voice and delivery pleasant and easy to listen to, and just right for this gentle romance. It's not one of the Cynster novels, so by comparison it's quite tame.
    Very disappointed
i've never been disappointed about a story that was written by one of my favorite author. but i guess there's always the first.
    the narrator does it again.
What disappointed you about A Comfortable Wife?
narrator has a sing song voice that I couldn't take any longer by 50 mins into the book.
Has A Comfortable Wife turned you off from other books in this genre?
    no
What didnt you like about Rosalind Ashfords performance?
it's more what was there to like.
    Any additional comments?
I really can't review the story as the narrators performance is so bad it takes away any attention to what she was saying.
    Good story but didn't finish...
I'm sure that Stephanie Laurens writes great, fun, romance as always, and her audiobooks are pretty much auto-buys for me. But wow, I am going through shock listening to this narrator. Her accent at first seems interesting -- not great -- but I can tolerate a lot that others don't. But after the first chapter, I found myself cringing. Not a lot of different in 'voices' or different characters, so that's difficult to follow, although there seems to be some quality of the main 'voices' that seem rather grandmotherly, and sorry, but I don't want romance reads to make me think of grandmothers! But it's the intonation and the almost 'gaspy' sound that really started to get on my nerves. I seriously am going to return this one and get the ebook to read instead, although I've managed to get 2 hours into the story! PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS NARRATOR EVER AGAIN!!!

If a maid wants nothing but a husband, how can a brother give her everything?
As the illegitimate daughter of an earl, Lily Harkins spent her early years toiling as a scullery maid and later as a lady's maid. When her brother, Gabriel Wellingham, paid a call to claim her as his sister, Lily was surprised and a bit overwhelmed. With recognition as the Earl of Trenton's half-sister came the responsibility to learn the ways of the ton as well as the promise of a substantial dowry - an irresistible draw for many a man who might require the income to pay off gambling debts or shore up flagging bank accounts.
William Overby may have started his life as a street urchin in the Seven Dials, but he worked his way from being Thomas Wellingham's caddie to clerking at the man's business. Having outfitted his bachelor quarters with excess inventory from Wellingham Imports and rather satisfied with his lot in life, William has no need to wonder what's next. That is, until he meets the comely blonde chit who's paying a visit to her cousin, Thomas. The idea of courting - the idea of taking a wife - are suddenly all William can think about.
Thanks to patient tutoring, Lily had a successful come-out - too successful. Having read the stories in the gossip sheets from London suggesting his sister is being courted by no fewer than four aristocrats, Gabriel sends for her. He's determined to hear her side of the stories before deciding which man is worthy enough to be her husband.
Having suffered a good deal of embarrassment in her encounters with gentlemen claiming they wished to court her, Lily wonders if any of her suitors are sincere. And just who is the young man who works for her cousin Thomas? Is he a suitable suitor? Or just another fortune hunter after her dowry? While on her way to meet her brother in Staffordshire, Lily decides she may have to spin a few tales of her own to get her way in The Desire of a Lady.

    Very enjoyable!
The Desire of a Lady was very enjoyable. The period aspect of it being set in 1812 England, with all the rules of courtship and class, made it interesting. The author certainly knows her way around that time period, as there were many quirks to the story.
All in all a very good listen!

Anne has to protect herself and her precious only son from the treacherous royal court, the deadly royal rival, and even from the driving ambition of her husband - Richard III.

Best book of the series so far!
I am not one for reviewing products but I felt this deserved one. I had listened to the Red Queen previously and thoroughly enjoyed it. I then listened to the White Queen which was ok but generally not of the same quality. I then read this and it blew them both out of the water (which if you read the book you will find to be an appropriate turn of phrase). The narration is equally as good as the other two (and it is very proficient) but the storyline is far superior. Granted Anne Neville herself was probably more interesting than the others. It's is gripping and at no point irritating like the other leading ladies could be in its counterparts. Also the ending to this piece feels to be concluded far more successfully than the other two. You feel like the story has ended and not that Philippa Gregory got bored of writing it. I would definitely recommend this to people with a love of the War of the Roses or just historical drama because this is it at its best.
    fantastic story, performed very well.
l loved this book, could not wait to listen to it. Thoroughly enjoyed the plot twists.
    Brilliant
Bought this after watching the tv show the white queen. An amazing compelling story and the voice actor sounds like tge acter who played anne in the show so that was a plus. A muat read in my opinion
    Enjoyable
Where does The Kingmaker's Daughter rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It's up there with the ones I'd listen to again.
What did you like best about this story?
Even though it is fiction, it's based on a real historical character using historical research and references, so I found it really informative whilst enjoying the authors personal take, relating to the characters thoughts and feelings.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
I loved the parts with Richard, as his character has been portrayed very badly through history and this story gave a different perspective on him and his good qualities, whilst subtly leading us to believe he could quite possibly have been bad too.
    Easy listening
I really enjoyed this audio book. I had to listen to it in a rather fragmented way but it drew me back every time whether I had 5 minutes to listen or 50.
