    Great listen/read
    The worst narrator
Would you try another book from Kathleen Eagle and/or Katrina Carmony?
    Kathleen Eagle - yes
    Katrina Carminy - no way
What did you like best about this story?
    The story
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Ridiculous number of mispronounced words - by the middle of the book I found the narration laughable. Being born in ND and living many years there I just couldn't get past the way she pronounced Mandan - wouldn't that be a key name to know how to pronounced? That wasn't the only blatant mispronunciation. As previously mentioned, the instances were so frequent it became laughable.
Did This Time Forever inspire you to do anything?
To make sure I never listen to another audiobook narrated by Katrina Carmony.
    This Time Forever
Slowly evolving tale of two people, with very different backgrounds and ambitions, who find love through a series of difficulties and common bonds. Refreshingly believable characters and storyline, beautifully written, deeply emotive, with a thread of cynical humour at times and deeply erotic at others. The whole was only enhanced by Katrina Carmony's narration. Very informative as to the plight of Native Americans (for someone as ignorant as I) and surprisingly not dated considering the story was originally written in the 1990's. Would thoroughly recommend this to other Katherine Eagle enthusiasts.

The day was as hot as the pond was inviting. It's not as if anyone in Little Huffington was going to happen upon a secluded vale on the Duke of Greycliffe's lands. And Venus Collingswood didn't want to get her shift all wet. It was the perfect setting in which to plan her lovely bookworm of a sister's betrothal to the mysterious new duke arriving seven days hence. If only she had a suitable accomplice....
Andrew Valentine, Duke of Greycliffe, never thought arriving at his own household a week early would cause so much trouble. The housekeeper thinks he's his own cousin. Actually, the chance to not be the duke for a while is a pleasant opportunity indeed. It might even help him interrogate the delectable little nymph he's discovered swimming in his pond - if he can manage to get a word in edgewise.

    One of my favorite stories!
This is a great lead in to the entire series. I just wish it could be longer because it is so sweet, funny, and nicely narrated. The characters, both protagonists and antagonists are enjoyable both for their quirkiness, snootiness, and precociousness.
This is the third time....? I have listened to it. :)
    love love love! !
I loved this book. I loved listening to it. only regret is that it was short.
    Cute little story
This was a nice, cute little story that was a good listen...quick, but cute! I recommend as a quickie read
    Cute story
I really enjoyed Sally MacKenzie's "Naked" series and was looking forward to this new one. This is a cute "pre" story to start the series. I really enjoyed the Abby Craden as the narrator.

5+ stars for this breathtaking historical romance!
With only two historical novels published to her name, Jeannie Lin has shot into my list of favorite authors after being totally and utterly captivated by the tale of love, Tang Dynasty politics and the beautiful sensuality that she wields in her stories. I picked up Butterfly Swords right after I was done with The Taming of Mei Ling which was just a teaser into Jeannie Lin's capability in keeping readers enthralled by the magic that she creates with the words - because simply put, it was just utter and sheer magic that leaped out from each and every one of these pages as I read along.
Set in 758 AD, Tang Dynasty China, this is the story of the sixth child and only girl of the Emperor of China during the time. Ai Li is on her way to meet her husband to be, Li Tao, a military governor in one of the provinces when she learns that her sense of honor would not let herself marry a traitor to the Emperor. Though she knows that the consequences of fleeing from Li Tao would be catastrophic, with a sense of inborn courage, Ai Li is all set to travel back to Changan, the Imperial Capital when she comes across the foreigner more commonly known as barbarian amongst the Chinese then who calls himself Ryam.
19 year old Ai Li has always had a sort of sixth sense when it comes to judging people. And although her culture, society and decorum demands that she shun the warrior with blond hair and blue eyes, her sense of honor and respect for a man who willingly put his life on the line to come to her rescue has her requesting his help in returning to the Imperial city.
Ryam is a man who has got the wandering swordsman thing down to a pat. Following in his father's footsteps who had imbibed in drinking and foolhardy fighting after the loss of his beloved wife had been Ryam's way of life until he is recruited by Adrian, a prince by his own rights who admires Ryam's mighty skill with the sword. A mission that goes horribly wrong which had nearly killed Ryam in the process has left him with a terrible sense of guilt that clouds all his senses until the beautiful and enchanting Ai Li enlists his help and Ryam agrees against his better judgement.
For the first time in Ai Li's life, she gets to spend time with a man who listens to her, values her opinions and has a way of making her feel things that she shouldn't feel for someone like Ryam and keeps messing with her head. Ryam who has all the worldly experience under his belt when it comes to seduction and women finds himself for the first time smitten with a virgin who has no idea what she does to him just by existing.
Though their attraction and the awareness that springs forth between them is an immediate one, the sexual tension of the sizzling variety is a long drawn one which keeps the reader on tenterhooks, awaiting that moment when Ai Li and Ryam would surrender and give themselves to each other.

    Publisher's Summary:
    Dear Listener,
I wrote Night Shadow during the spring and summer of 1988. I had such fun with this book, particularly when the quintessential Regency bachelor meets his Waterloo.
Knight Winthrop, Viscount Castlerosse - you met him in Night Storm - is very happy with his life just the way it is. Then Lily Tremaine shows up on his doorstep claiming she was betrothed to his murdered cousin. With her are his cousins three children. She has no money, nowhere to go. Whats even worse - Ugly Arnold is hard on her heels.
Ah, so whats Knight supposed to do now? He takes them in and kisses his former life goodbye.
I hope youll laugh until your belly aches at the anticsof Laura Beth, Sam, and Theo - and at how the very clever, creative Lord Castlerosse deals with this new species.
How does he deal with Lily? Read on, youll love it.

    not the best
If you don't care about writing or a slightly convenient character/plot development, this book isn't totally awful. For me, it's hard to enjoy because the writing quality isn't great in my opinion (which frankly distracts me from being engaged and getting pulled into the story, such as it is). I also find some of the twists and turns, in the way the hero and heroine relate to each other, a little unrealistic. Framed another way, the plot could be okay (it's a fairly standard recipe for a romance novel), but it's just difficult to get into this one.
    Catherine Coulter, Night Fire Triology
The second book in this series, Night Shadow, was a great read. I enjoyed it immensely like I do all of Catherine Coulter books. It was packed with romance and action and kept me interested in same all the time
    Great Love
Couldn't wait for Knight's story. It was great. He could have fought it more but the story was a fun read. Lily was a good choice for him. Live the children, it was a great touch.
    Best of the three
I haven't read Night Storm yet (book #3), but considering the reviews, and how much better Night Shadow (this book; book #2) was than the first one, Night Fire (which also got poorer reviews), I'm sure this will turn out to be the best of the three.
Except for the way Knight treats Lily in the middle of the book, I loved his character. He's kind and funny and great with the kids. I thought Coulter's characterization of the children was great also. They really came alive to me. The love scenes are a bit steamy, and their first true coupling wasn't the best, but if you can live with that, you'll love this book.
ETA:I felt I should add this to my review and not only as a comment to another, after re-reading one of the other reviews:
I have to disagree with the comment about 'too much children'. Normally, I'm like that. I don't like to read a lot about kids when I'm reading a romance, but this book was an exception. Not only does the hero's choice to marry the heroine include accepting an instant family, but the children were likable, their characters were well-developed, and the scenes with them were enjoyable--often touching and or funny. All in all, I think the inclusion of the kids enhanced the plot, not detracted from it.

    enthralling adventure
loved this second book about Jonathan and Kathy better than the first. A great love story and adventure
    Not her best
The hero was ridiculously jealous and the heroine was too silly headed to keep herself safe.
    Sea Fire
If you could sum up Sea Fire in three words, what would they be?
    An entertaining book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Sea Fire?
When the baby was born at Sea.
What about Justine Eyres performance did you like?
She does a good job. Feel a Sea Captain needs a stronger voice.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
    Passionate in the South
    Any additional comments?
Really enjoyed the way their love excelled in the end.
    I would have dumped him
I do not understand why the higher ratings from others for this book. The narrator's voice was an attempted sexy Southern Drawl with British English overtones, and did not work. I could barely listen to the story due to cringing at the voice.
The plot started roughly 20% into Part 1. Every cliche phrase that could be written regarding body types and sex was present, in spades. At times I wished to choke the heroine, who seemed to go from ninny and accepting of all sorts of downgrading behavior from her husband, to feisty in the blink of an eye. It is beyond me why two people who fight all the time, both physically and verbally, would want to stay together.
Probably the worst was the rape scene, and the heroine, while protesting, almost immediately afterwards was lusting after the rapist. A close second was her inability to verbalize the actions she took that led to the "misunderstandings" in her relationship despite months of solitary togetherness.
I generally enjoy this author, but this book irritated me more than gave enjoyment.
    Couldn't finish it.
I was looking forward to listening to this book I heard the first one and enjoyed it but this one after 3 hours they just kept saying the same thing over and over it got repetitive and I just couldn't finish it.

    Publisher's Summary:
In this exciting prequel to best-selling author Anne Stuart's House of Rohan series, when Kathleen Strong interviews for a job that offers a chance at proper employment, a mysterious group of aristocrats proposes a scandalous offer that she can't refuse.
Venice, 1740. Desperate, starving, Kathleen Strong makes her way to a job interview that promises a chance at proper employment... and maybe a bite to eat. Accused of "gross immorality", she's adrift after being dismissed from her governess position, despite being entirely innocent.
That innocence is precisely what a mysterious group of debauched aristocrats finds so alluring about Miss Strong. When they propose a scandalous offer that she can't refuse... she can't refuse. But if the darkly gallant Alistair Rohan, a gentleman involved in all manner of wicked deeds himself, has anything to say about it, Kathleen can escape her disrepute in another way.
Of course, the escape route looks very similar to the group's illicit proposition itself....

    One objection...
It's too short! With those delicious characters, you don't want the story to end!
This Chapter Wouldn't be Worth Half the Price
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
True fans of the series. I've found the series OK, but not as compelling as Stuart's other books.
What was most disappointing about Anne Stuarts story?
Um. From dissipated jerk to noble suitor in record-breaking speed.
Which character as performed by Susan Ericksen was your favorite?
    Heroine.
What character would you cut from The Wicked House of Rohan?
Cutting isn't the issue -- what's needed is addition. Like justification. Evolution of character.
    Any additional comments?
I don't think this chapter (that's about how long it is) would be worth half the price.
too short not worth paying for this book
disappointed in this book because it was way to short and it wasnt much of a story . it doesnt live up to the Anne Stuart books I'm used to.
    It's too short
I look this and every book in the series but the last one is too short! I would be much obliged if you write another book for this series.
    : ) : (
    wicked!
    short, sweet, sexy, wicked..... yum!
The inception of the heavenly host.
And the shortness of the tale doesn't matter!

    Ughhhh the worst reader!
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend my friends read this book. Listening to it is torture.
Would you be willing to try another one of Emma Greene???s performances?
I don't wish to be cruel as her performance of the female characters is flawless but the men come off as insepid and impotent. Her male performances were so bad that after an hour I had to stop listening. I wish I could get a refund!
    Any additional comments?
Dispute the comments left by others about the performance I went ahead and purchased this. I wish I had heeded their advice. Buyer beware. Save your credits and buy the book.
    Very bad narration
Is there anything you would change about this book?
    Yes the Narrator
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I have had to stop listening. The narrator has a pleasant voice however dropping w for h and vice versa, other issues pertaining to the narrators regional accent causes some very jarring listening. As to grammar; Im sorry Im just very disappointed.
In regards to the characters a male voice that is described as a baritone should not sound like an old maiden aunt with a hoarse throat. No, Im very disappointed in this product and would suggest that this audio book be removed for quality reasons. Again the narrators voice is very nice however the narrator is not suitable for fictional audio books.
    Any additional comments?
I'll be much more careful before purchasing an audio book. Instead of purchasing new releases I will wait until I can read reviews as to the narration.
I would suggest Audible check the quality of the products they retail as per my pervious comment. This audio book should not have been released in its current state especially as the publisher is Audible, Inc.
    Worst hero's voice ever!
    Any additional comments?
I listen to an audiobook every two days and have never written a review but felt compelled to warn others. I am very adaptable when it comes to narrators' voices and can almost always get used to a voice that bothers me at the start of a book. I certainly appreciate excellent narration but rarely get stirred up by less than stellar performances. This, however, was appalling!! I have been anticipating Ms. Foley's books being released in audio for a long time and have even corresponded with the author but if Ms. Greene narrates more of this series I will not be listening.

    Ack!!! Cliffhanger
Would you listen to Pride & Passion again? Why?
Yes, it was seductive and dark and gritty. No one writes a love scene like Featherstone.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Pride & Passion?
All the love scenes are memorable. There enticing and exciting.
Which character ??? as performed by Rebecca de Leeuw ??? was your favorite?
Lord Sussex. I loved the readers smooth rich voice. Her different accents were intriguing and even though she is a women she did a pretty descent job as a man.
    Any additional comments?
I wish books that were cliffhangers came with warnings. I like to read them in succession instead of having to wait months for the next book to come out. So be forewarned, if you don't like to wait either, the end is the beginning of another book.
    Cliffhanger

Very intriguing and gripping. One of the better audio books I have read.
What did you like best about this story?

What does Rebecca de Leeuw bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
the drama in her reading was exceptional. you could really FEEL the characters, their emotions and passions. The voiceovers were great!!!
    Any additional comments?
Although I enjoyed this book immensely. It is a cliffhanger. You know who Orpheus is; or at least one thinks they do. I wanted more. I wanted a true conclusion. I was looking to see if it was part of a series because it ended slightly abruptly. Still....a very enjoying book. Loved the story, the plot, Ms. de Leeuw was simply fantastic. Thanks for such a great book.
    Better than book 1

    Devil's Bride by Stephanie Laurens
Which character as performed by Rebecca de Leeuw was your favorite?
    Great Duke of Sussex
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Sometimes I wanted to scream at Lucy, she was a bit whiny at times.
I really loved Lizzy (Duke of Sussex blind sister), she was so confident and independent, I think her story will be told in book 3..( Can't wait)
    Any additional comments?

Great 1st book, I'm on to the second , and it is also very good, can't wait fro part 3.
    Great read
This book is definately worth your time and credit. The tone is dark and the Earl of Black is awesome. It is not a predictable plot like many "romance" stories. Nothing less that I have come to expect from Carlotte Featherstone. The narrater did a great job by keeping all the voices deistinct and not mauling the male voices.
    Repetition Not Always Entertaining...
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    Frustrated with "Death"...
    Any additional comments?
I found this audio to be somewhat confusing. The narrators voice wasn't very distinctive going from character to character, male to female, except for the Welsh character. On top of that, it wasn't always clear when the scene was reality or a dream. The whole repetition of the "Death" theme throughout the book became so tedious I found myself rolling my eyes and saying here we go again over and over and over... ugh! I read the second book first, not realizing this is a series, since Audible did not indicate it, and found it to be exceptional. Overall I'm glad I listened to this one and was worth the credit only to help understand the characters and story in more detail as setup for the remaining books.
Jane Eyre-esque gothic romance à la Harlequin
    No spoilers within.
If you like Jane Eyre type gothic romance novels where the main characters actually go between the sheets, in a very descriptive, direct non-suggestive kind of way, then this is the book for you!
Which words come to mind when reflecting back on this book? Gothic romance, scandal, sex, mystery.
If you aren't familiar with the gothic-type romance novel, you may think it's cheesy. But if you've read Jane Eyre, you won't... not too much anyways.
A bit of a twist in a historical romance.
Would you listen to Seduction & Scandal again? Why?
Some day I will listen to it again. In a year or two.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Seduction & Scandal?
I don't have one memorable moment.

When innocent, wealthy Nora Marlowe came to visit the Wild West, she was as wide-open to adventure as the vast Texas horizon. Its rugged individualism - and dashing cowboys - suited her romantic spirit. That is, until the wrong cowboy decided to take the elegant heiress down a notch!
Cal Barton didnt like haughty Eastern misses. And he certainly didnt appreciate one invading the ranch where he worked. But something about Nora was irresistible. The pull between them only grew stronger the longer she stayed - until a simple kiss became a full-fledged seduction that threatened to destroy everything she held dear... Dont miss this classic tale from Diana Palmer!

    Sweet transparency!!
There isn't anything in this one to dislike.
The story line kept peaking my interest and endear'ence towards Nora & Cal.
The readers voice captured the innocence of Nora and Cal's even through their pride hovered at times.
I've listened to "NORA" several times, and I'm sure for many time more.
    Thanks for this great "LISTEN."
Too sexual too soon and too often
I like more developing of a relationship, this one just went to the hardcore sex and just kept going back to that without giving enough reason for the relationships development.
    ENJOYABLE
I enjoyed this audible, the abridged version was enough for me. Had a good story line that flowed together well. It was a little predictable, but still enjoyable.
