Dream Big.
Like Walt Disney, who shared the magic kingdom of his imagination with millions, or like Jackie's sister, Kathy, who didn't let a severe case of rheumatoid arthritis stop her from completing a walking marathon, see where your dreams can take you.
Work Hard.
As Jackie points out in her recollections of her dad's early political career, working hard can be a surprising source of energy, and adopting an attitude of cheerful persistence will help you reach your goal.
Learn Every Day.
The key is to remember that learning is a reciprocal process. You can't be passive; you must be engaged. Come along on a visit to the acclaimed Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta to see how this principle works in action.
Enjoy Life.
And what's the best way to do that? From the wisdom of the ancient philosophers to information from the latest scientific studies, the answer is the same: Be grateful for all your blessings, and do something every day to show compassion and generosity to others.
Be True to Yourself.
It sounds easy, but it's the hardest principle to live by. Discover what people from William Shakespeare to Henrik Ibsen to John P. Abizaid have had to say about this touchstone for an honest life.
With these inspiring and memorable words of wisdom, Newt and Jackie have given us a book to treasure for a lifetime.

Not Politics, but a Self-Help Life-Style Guide
Since there are already some very good and detailed reviews of this book posted, I'll only add a few pithy comments about what I enjoyed about the book. First of all, it provided me a surprising look into the personal and family life of the Gingrich family. While I was expecting some politics, I was pleasantly surprised that they weren't there, or if they were, they were hardly noticeable. In addition to glimpses into the Gingrich family's life-style and philosophies, the book included brief interviews with dozens of well-known, and a few lesser-known, successful Americans. The list includes people from both ends and the middle of the political spectrum. The most common universal advice all these interviewees expressed was the absolute necessity for hard work, persistence and having a dream that is always foremost in their mind as they take the needed human footsteps to accomplish the individual steps leading to fulfilling their dreams. This is a very inspirational self-help book and any reader will find sections of it worth taking home. It's an easy three or four hour read as well. Sometimes the five principles are deceptively simple but very difficult to achieve. The book provides guidance for actually achieving the life-style changes needed for a happy, successful life. It's nice that those solutions include more than simply "counting your blessings" although that too is paramount.
