Fast Paced Thrill Ride
Night Cruising is an intense story about a parent's worst nightmare, and Billie Sue Mosiman pulls no punches.
Sixteen year old Molly Killany feels alone in the world. Her mother died when she was born, Dad is a marine, and Molly feels bound by rules and convention. Deciding to take her chances on the road, Molly leaves home and ends up at a truck stop. She is looking for work and decides, if she has to, she will prostitute herself in order to survive.
There she meets Cruise, a seemingly nice man who takes her under his wing. Crusie seems stable, if a bit eccentric and promises to drive her across the country to California. On the trip he tells her endless stories, protects her from dangers and offers her advice. Molly feels safe and in control. Until.....
INTENSE!
If you're a horror-suspense fan and you've read Billie Sue Mosiman, you.re a fan and I don't have to tell you how masterfully she weaves a plot of twist, surprises, and terror. Night Cruising will keep you riveted as you root for young Molly. Kidnapped to witness an insane serial killer's triumphs and ultimately to join the many victims, the teenager must tread a narrow beam of defiance and submission to survive. Meanwhile her ex-marine father frantically stays on their trail, his desperate mission, to save her and salvage their relationship.
If you've read Mosiman's biography, "Alabama Girl", you will see that not only does she spin deep, thoughtful stories, but with each book, she renders a sincere piece of herself.
Holy Mother of Pearl
This was a great read. No if's, and's or but's about it. Ms. Mosiman can tell a story that will have you reading and flipping pages so fast that you can barely catch your breath. She can also create characters so real you can feel their emotions - which is what you will do with young Molly. The more you read, the more you are right there with her, feeling the emotional and physical horrors that Cruise forces her to endure.
The storytelling is wickedly wonderful and I guarantee that the next road trip you take you will wonder about who the people really are in the cars and trucks that pass you by on the highway.
Bravo!
Dark and gripping...
This book kept me reading even when I didn't really want to know what was going to happen next.
I liked the way the author provided the various points of view without giving too much away. Each person's emotions came through loud and clear without being overstated.
The small insights into Cruise's history and actions are horrifyingly poignant. While abhorring his actions, I found myself almost feeling bad for how he became the person we read about on the road with Molly.
The finish was as untidy as the rest of the journey.
Disturbing, but well worth the read.
Horror Filled Road Trip
This book is not just about a killer, not just about a runaway girl and not just about the father who wants his daughter back.
