The POCcorn podcast reviews films created, directed and/or starring People of Color. Each show uses four questions to describe our thoughts on the film, plus one POCcorn moment we simply MUST discuss in detail.

Wipes away tears for the hundredth time. In this episode, we discuss Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and select the "Shuri in Haiti" scene as our POCcorn moment. We have been waiting and wanting for this film years beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself; and in more ways than one, it delivered. Listen in to hear our take on Wakanda Forever.

In episode 13, William and Joan are passed over for partner at their firm; and for another black lawyer no less! William is outraged to the point of quitting to start his own practice, while Joan stays behind to endure the competition of two POC vying for the same spot. This inspired talks about affirmative action and being valued at your job.

In episode 14, Maya finds a kindred spirit in another single black mother trying to make it on her own. The relationship seems refreshing and affirming. However, Maya gets seduced by the idea that she is entitled to all of her privileges and lack thereof. Thankfully, Joan reels her back in before she truly jeopardizes her and Jabari's life. We discuss the necessity of having all stories told, regardless of our own bias. Listen in!

While You Were Scrolling, we were Watching: LoveOnStage Season 2 - Atlanta (FINALE)

Episode 12's setting is in an open mic event where Lynn falls in "lust" with an incredible poet, who also happens to be celibate. Inspired by the episode, we take a walk down memory lane talking promise rings and college poetry readings. But our main topic centered around Ellis (Joan's boyfriend) and his rejection from the black community. We go over reasons black celebrities disappoint the communities they come from, as well as reasons black communities shun black celebrities in turn. Listen in!
