Just over a week until Christmas, so it's time for Jason Botchford and Jeff Paterson to party.
But first, after the Carolina collapse, surely Willie's on the hot seat.

  • Should the Canucks really be talking about no-trades?
It's a chilly Tuesday outside. Feels like hockey weather.
Patrick Johnston and Steve Ewen are here, and today's topic is "no-trades."
Just who are these Vancouver Canucks? By the standings, they're among the league's worst.
And yet the chatter is they're not moving anyone. Fans could be about to turn.
It's a strange time for messaging.
And it's a similar story for your Vancouver Giants, who have a blue chipper in Tyler Benson but are also not having the greatest season.
This is Province Sports Radio, on a Casual Tuesday.

  • What if Jim Benning has been right all along?
Ed Willes joins Paul Chapman as they look at the Canucks who are stumbling through surprisingly decent patch. What if Jim Benning has been right all along and his plan is all coming together? Ed talks about how the Canucks will be in the playoff mix if Ryan Miller can sustain this level of play for the rest of the season.
Ed then turns talk to the Blue Jays and how their reluctance to re-sign some of their key free agents could come back to haunt them.
The lads then kick around the NFL, who are the favourites for the Super Bowl at this point and where do the Seattle Seahawks fit in the mix?

  • Sun tanning with the Pat-cast: On the Larsen hit, the Linden/Benning media tour and no-trade talk
Jeff Paterson is back from his sunny sojourn; fittingly, Jason Botchford joins him from Tampa.
There's lots to talk about, including the Philip Larsen and its aftermath, Jim Benning and Trevor Linden talking to every media outlet they can, what to make of the GM's no-trade comments, Willie D's deployments — and his praise for Botch — re-signing Miller and Burrows...and of course, a visit from R2D2.
This is the Pat-cast on Province Sports Radio, presented by Eagle Ridge GM.

  • Re-doing the Horvat/Schneider trade
The Canucks facing their old goalies this week has Patrick Johnston and Steve Ewen thinking what ifs.
Like, what if the Canucks had been able to trade Roberto Luongo first? Or is there a rationale for not trading Schneider for the pick which became Horvat?
Is this the worst move ever made by the Canucks?
Big questions this week on Casual Tuesdays.
Also, some more insight from Steve on the fun Potomak sisters story he wrote for Tuesday's paper, and what are the Blue Jays going to do without Edwin Encarnacion?
    This is Province Sports Radio.

  • Paul and Ed on a Grey Cup classic, the Canucks kids and the form to come
Ed Willes joins Paul Chapman to talk about what the aftermath of a classic Grey Cup looks like. Will the league gain momentum? Or is the CFL always going to be what it is now, a Canadian institution that usually delivers a championship classic? Two or three-game series in the East and West Finals? Expansion to cities like Kelowna and Halifax? What can, or should, be done to create interest in the CFL regular season?
The Canucks recent upturn in form provides some fodder for looking at where the team will go. While the braintrust seemed uninterested in giving Troy Stetcher, Nikita Tryamkin and Bo Horvat prominent roles at the start of the season, they’ve been dragged in that direction, and it appears to be working.
Will that mean the Canucks will stay the course? Does it mean the team will look to be aggressive in the trade market if they stay in a playoff race?
Also, what of Jake Virtanen: what his role is during the second half of the season, Ed thinks he has a chance to come up and contribute, Paul thinks his future with the Canucks looks a bit more uncertain.
Finally the talk turns to MLS. After the spectacular matchup between Toronto and Montreal, and now seeing Seattle in the Final against TFC, what do the Whitecaps have to do to get into that conversation.
