Maybe the fiasco that was 1997-98, where Mark Messier came in, the team fell apart, Trevor Linden was traded, Pat Quinn was fired, Tom Renney was fired too, Mike Keenan took over...and managed to bring in Todd Bertuzzi and Bryan McCabe.

Maybe there's a silver bullet out there?
