WHL This Week - Radio Edition, takes a look at another NHL debut from a WHL player from this past season.  Zach Ostapchuk (Vancouver, Winnipeg) debuted with the NHL's Ottawa Senators earlier this week.

The Red Deer Rebels made a coaching change earlier this month.  Veteran Dave Struch has been tasked with guiding the Rebels down the stretch and into the playoffs.  He'll be our guest with Troy Gillard.

The UBC Thunderbirds captured the Canada West title thanks to 22 WHL Alumni.  They are now competing for a National USPORTS Championship.  We talk to their captain - former Red Deer Rebel - Chris Douglas.

The Bob Ridley Award for Media Excellence was recently presented for a 3rd time since it's inception. Longtime TV Broadcaster/Reporter Earl Seitz in Kamloops was announced as the winner. He'll be our guest to wrap up the show.

WHL This Week - Episode 23, takes a look at former WHL/CHL Player of the Year Logan Stankoven and his electric start to his NHL career.  The former four-year member of the Kamloops Blazers scored his first NHL goal on his 21st birthday and has scored in his last three NHL games with the Dallas Stars.

Spokane Chiefs Head Coach Ryan Smith recently returned from South Korea after coaching Canada's hockey team at the World Youth Olympics.  Smith talks about his experience and the abundance of WHL prospects on that team who will look to make an impact when they arrive next fall for their 16 year-old seasons.

Former WHL'er Vukie Mpufo has risen the ranks as an NHL Executive at just 28 years-old.  The Saskatoon native went to Law School after his playing days and is now the Director of Hockey Operations & Legal Affairs for the Pittsburgh Penguins. We will share his story. 

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, hears from the WHL Player of the Month for January. Medicine Hat Tigers F Gavin McKenna has kept up his pace in February in his first full season in the WHL.  That product of Whitehorse, YK leads off thet show.

Two former WHL players made their NHL debuts this past week.  Former Seattle Thunderbirds F Matt Rempe and former Red Deer Rebel Arshdeep Bains stepped onto the NHL ice for the first time.  We will have their stories and hear from Rebels GM/President Brent Sutter on the story behind Surrey BC's Arshdeep Baines.

To close, Prince George Cougars captain Hudson Thornton was recently honoured with his own night in Prince George after securing three team records for career goals, assists and points from a defenseman. Hudson will be our guest. 

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, has special guest Clarence Iron to begin the show.  The hockey broadcaster joined the Regina Pats Indigenous Night celebrations by calling the 2nd period of the Pats - Edmonton Oil Kings game in his native Cree language.  More with Clarence in this week's show.

Former Regina Pats/Prince Albert Raiders G Max Paddock is playing a 2nd sport at the USports level.  He's rediscovered his love of volleyball as he attends the University of Fraser Valley in Chilliwack, BC. 

Kamloops Blazers F Emmitt Finnie has been named the Tempo WHL Player of the Week.  The Detroit Red Wings prospect put up seven goals and added three assists in three games.  He will close out the show.

The WHL Canada West Graduate of the Month for January is former Portland Winterhawks/Victoria Royals G Shane Farkas of the Mount Royal Cougars.  He's putting together a solid year in Canada West including a 6-0 January. Farkas talks about his time in the WHL and how he's taking advantage of the WHL Scholarship Program.

He's ranked 67th amongst North American Skaters in the NHL Central Scouting Mid-Term Rankings.  Kamloops Blazers D Harrison Brunicke continues to trend upwards with an increased role and an appearance in the Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition checks in with the Vancouver Giants who are starting to gain traction in the Western Conference.  General Manager Barclay Parnetta joins us to discuss the Giants and the pair of big moves pulled off at thte WHL Trade Deadline.

Former Kamloops Blazers/Everett Silvertips D Olen Zellweger made his long awaited NHL debut for the Anaheim Ducks this week.  We will take you back to that night which included his first NHL point.

The Tempo WHL Player of the Week D Luca Cagnoni of the Portland Winterhawks stops by.  After recording eight points in four games, the Winterhawks continue to battle for 1st place in the US Division and the top seed in the Western Conference.

Outgoing WHL Commisioner Ron Robison talks about his history with the game, which has been a labour of love.  Robison will wrap up a 24-year run as WHL Commisioner at the end of the season.
