Our conversation with Jeneen continues, and we talk about marriage, relationships and “the secret sauce” to keeping it alive and kicking.. The secret is there is no secret. We talk about how the dating scene has evolved over the years and how Nira and Jeneen have themselves shifted as their self-awareness has grown and how that has affected what they look for in a partner/companion/boyfriend.  

“I revealed too much too soon, I was emotionally slutty”, Carrie from Sex & The City’s quote pretty much sums up the theme of our conversation with Jeneen. We spoke about everyone and everything, and I have to say we were very comfortable airing out our dirty laundry. The men, the dates, the disasters oh my! To be continued.

According to Austrian psychiatrist Alfred Adler, birth order does in fact affect your personality. Firstborns are usually overachievers, tend to be CEOs, and have higher IQs. The middle child tends to be more rebellious and a people pleaser, while the youngest ones are more likely to be risk takers and without a care in the world. Nira and Heba discuss how birth order has in fact shaped their characters and relate closely to what Adler theorized. And naturally, during their conversation, they reveal too much information about each other and their own experiences growing up as three sisters.  

So how did it go? Did we lose or gain weight during Ramadan.. Which shows did everyone watch, which ones were good? And of course it wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t talk about food and Ramadan desserts.. Weigh in on Heba and Nira’s thoughts of Ramadan this year. 

What starts off as a boring topic of travel, favorite destinations, and potential places to go after Ramadan, ends up in a whole lot of amusing and at times aimless banter between Heba and Nira. And at certain moments, it gets a little tense between them, shocker! Keep listening, it gets more amusing by the minute, and someone finally comes out of the spliff smoking closet.. oops, did I ruin it?

On this episode, Heba and Nira discuss with Aly their favorite topic – relationships. We discuss relationships in this part of the world; what it’s like dating nowadays; the expectations we have; the traditions we have to navigate; and how relationships and dating have shifted over the past few decades in Egypt and the Middle East.

After working with Aly for a few years at The Four Fat Ladies, Nira and I knew that long after leaving the company, we found a life long friend in Aly. We sit with Aly and take a deep dive into his entire life in one long sitting. No filters, we go from topic to topic, first discussing Ramadan and the foods we crave; weight loss; to living it up in your 30s and partying with friends.

What do you look forward to most in Ramadan? And least .. Heba and Nira ramble on about what Ramadan means to them, and of course as usual, they take a trip down memory lane.
