Those who argue in favor of the death penalty often emphasize capital punishment as a means of justice for victims and their families. But what if those impacted by the crimes in question desire a different kind of justice? Rev. Sharon Risher, daughter of one of the nine churchgoers slain in the 2015 hate crime at Emanuel AME Church, is one of those people. In part one of this series, we hear Sharon’s reasons for forgiving her mother’s killer, even though he’s shown no remorse for his heinous crime. We also hear from Christian anti-death penalty activist Shane Claiborne, who offers a theological exploration of redemption.   Want to share your thoughts?
