Review - Rogue

I think we guessed that this weeks episode of Doctor Who, Rogue would be divisive for some. However, what is surprising is that Paul and Phil are divided over their opinions on this story. Phil reveals that he has no soul and has a cold, dead heart while Paul embraces the love on display. But with owl people, a long forgotten Doctor and a love story thrown together into the mix, does the story hang together or is it as threadbare as pair of well worn britches?

Also, the lads pay tribute to William Russell who sadly passed away at the age of 99.

Review - Dot and Bubble

There is a lot to unpack this week as Paul and Phil look at Dot and Bubble, the latest episode of Doctor Who. What on the surface appears to be a story of the dangers of social media, it really is about something much more insidious and lets Phil show his true colours when it come to the rich elite. And influencers. Ok, he doesn't like them.

Review - 73 Yards

This time Phil and Paul get wrapped up in folk horror with 73 Yards, the latest episode in this series of Doctor Who. But is it folk horror? Is it political satire or is it a time travel story. Well, it's all of the above which leaves Phil scratching his head and continues his stance of being a miserable little podcaster, while Paul as usual is the voice of sanity and just enjoys this weeks episode.

Also, they discuss the news that the last two episodes of this series are heading to UK cinemas, which turns Phil into a red faced gammon.

Review - Boom

After last weeks divisive episodes, Phil and Paul turn their attention to Boom written by Steven Moffat. Does this episode improve on last weeks offering of Doctor Who or does it suffer the excesses of Steven Moffat's writing? With the themes of religion, AI and arms manufacturers featuring heavily in this story, this episode of the podcast decides to use the phrase "hard man stick".

Space Babies and The Devil's Chord Review

Doctor Who is back on Saturday nights with the first season of Ncuti Gatwa's take on the The Doctor. With two episodes airing this week, Phil and Paul tackle both Space Babies and The Devil's Chord but is this Doctor who as they knew it or have the pair of them finally been left out of the viewing demographic? With comparisons made with The Sarah Jane Adventures and Phil using the word "gurning", perhaps time has been called?

Review - Phantasmagoria

Cricket! Gambling! Yes, this episode Phil and Paul enter the world of gentlemen's rooms with Phantasmagoria from Big Finish. In this story featuring Peter Davison as the Doctor and Mark Strickson as Turlough, dodgy playing cards, spirits and a house made of meat is the order of the day. But what did they think of this story that was released when Paul and Phil were both in the twenties? Apart from making them feel old of course!

Introducing the 2nd Doctor

This time Phil and Scott look at how Patrick Troughton was introduced to the world in 1966 with episode one of The Power of The Daleks.

With a new take on the Doctor, how effective was this episode in introducing a new actor to the role and what was the impact this had on the show? Along the way both Phil and Scott take conversational diversions to the BBC Shop, the Children's Film Foundation and Screen Test.

Introducing The First Doctor

In an occasional series, Phil and Scott are discussing the episodes of Doctor Who that introduced us to a new Doctor. And to kick things off, they start right at the very beginning with William Hartnell in An Unearthly Child.

With a lot to set up and with the very first episode being filmed twice, Phil and Scott look at the pilot and the transmitted episodes and how effective were either of them in introducing the Doctor to the world.

Also, in the news, Varada Sethu is officially announced as the 15th Doctor's companion for season 2 and that she will be travelling alongside Millie Gibson!

Who's He? at The Movies | Night of The Demon

This time Phil takes a look at one of his favourite British horror movies, Night of the Demon starring Dana Andrews.

In a tale of witchcraft, hairy demons and disbelieving square jawed scientists, this M.R. James classic ghost story is bought to the silver screen in a film that Phil has been fascinated with since he was a child.
