Spokesperson for the World Health Organisation Margaret Harris joined Gavan this morning on the show to discuss the current state of play of Covid on the global stage. Harris spoke about the fact that the countries leading in terms of Covid cases are both the US and the UK but on a more positive side she noted that Covid deaths are dropping globally. The WHO spokesperson mentioned the fact that within the above named countries, there are large sections of the population who are unvaccinated and these are the individuals who are getting sickest. The WHO are very concerned about using a finite amount of vaccines when large parts of the developing world are still largely unvaccinated. The organisation stance would be that two primary doses should be given in the developing world before boosters are widely distributed.
