With 2022 in the books (and slammed shut), Chris reveals his picks for the 20 most influential movies of the year. And with Spike providing moral/snark support, this one was a camera killer!
Back in the day...
A redhead bombshell and a Cuban bandleader set the world on fire. Then they set TV ablaze, enabling some of the greatest blockbusters of the 60s, before inspiring a girl who could turn the world on with her smile and her producer husband, enabling some of the greatest blockbusters of the 70s and 80s.
This is the story of the guy who created reruns, the dish who built Paramount TV, and a legacy that will endure into strange new worlds.
This is Desilu.
Well, take your Ripley shorts and call a Weaver! It's GEEKIN OUT!
Well, smile wider cause the camera adds ten grounds for civil action! It's a new episode of GEEKIN OUT!
This time, the boys have come back from their whirlwind tour of Kalamazoo, Cucamonga and Walla Walla with a variety of takes from all over the place. Such as...
*Courtin' a new Court Days
*Tailing Trailers
*Brucifer!
*James Gunn and Batmans!
And a whooole lot more!
So, butter up, buttercup, and drop the mic with this catsup edition of GEEKIN OUT!
The Twitter Files came and went and dumped alllll over our self-appointed betters. From the Old Gray Lady to Googy itself, there was plenty of mess to go around.
But... (remember rule #2)
Did you know that serving a government agency makes you and your organization government agents?
Did you know that government agents are, like government agencies, restrained by the Constitution of the US?
And did you know that, as government agents, violating the rights contained in the Constitution make you guilty of a criminal act?
Yeah. Let's talk about that...
Elon this. Elon that.
Everyone is talking about Elon Musk and Twitter, but what is anyone doing about it?
For that matter, what is Elon Musk doing WITH Twitter?
In this episode, Spike explores Musk's past (did you forget about PayPal?), his present (Info Dump and all), and most importantly where Spike thinks where Twitter goes from here.
Hint: They don't want to compete with Facebook. Musk's target is MUCH bigger than that...
Back in the day when every neighborhood had a shopping center, in the back of that center was a video store, and in the back of that video store was where they kept the classics: the BACK RACK VIDEOS.
This episode, Chris looks at the history of MOVIE SPECIAL EFFECTS, from it humble beginnings to today's CGI overload. Join us for a discussion and a lesson of where Hollywood has been and where it'll go in this edition of BRV.
Well, THAT ain't right.
A week has passed since the "red tsunami" became the "red ripple." Much wailing and gnashing of teeth and rending of garments has occurred, but to what end?
In this episode, Spike takes what he's seen and heard and (most importantly) learned and breaks down the 2022 mid-term elections:
*What should we learn?
*What should we NOT learn?
*What should we do next? Next year? Next election? Next decade?
Some answers, many insights, a few suggestions, and the understanding that a good election leaves EVERYONE mad: all in the CHORE OF DUTY.
Well, open my milk and tell me it smells funny! It's another demented edition of GEEKIN OUT!
This time out, the boys sack the smack with a stack o' wax as we don't review WEIRD- THE AL YANKOVIC STORY! At first:
*Winston smokes GHOSTBUSTERS 4
*HENRY CAVILL is Super
*Marty and Doc open a fly BACK TO THE FUTURE website
*JAMES GUNN takes aim at DC ENTERTAINMENT
*The nightmares of PETER PAN
And then, MAYBE... if we GOTTA... Spike reviews WEIRD. Finally.
So, remember the three constants in life: death, taxes and Madonna's a slut in a very Pablo episode of GEEKIN OUT!
LAST MINUTE MUCH?
Kentucky's general election ballot for 2022 includes a constitutional amendment that has everyone picking sides: whether courts should be able to find anything in Kentucky's Constitution that would permit abortion of any type.
BUT (rule #2: there's always a big ol' but)
There's another much longer amendment that would change how Kentucky's legislature will work forever.
Spike explains how the leaders of Kentucky's House and Senate want to re-establish a crucial check on the Governor's power by allowing those leaders to call Special Sessions of the Legislature, with or without the Governor's consent.
He also looks at the history of this amendment, and why it's so important that nearly every media outlet in the Commonwealth has studiously ignored it.
Think. Again. The Chore of Duty...
