Palace won the right to play in the competition through their FA Cup triumph, but part-owner John Textor's involvement with French side Lyon caused a breach of the rules regarding ownership, and Forest have been bumped into the Europa League, with Palace relegated into the Conference League. Is it a fair punishment for Palace to be turfed out of the competition they qualified for fair and square? Or is it a case of rules being rules and followed to the last detail? Evangelos Marinakis avoided a similar situation by putting his ownership of Forest into a 'blind trust' in order to comply with UEFA's rules, which seems like a convenient outcome.
