In Star Wars Return of the Jedi we get the final fight between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. We've seen Vader in Rogue One, we know his wrath and power, so why was he so weak against Luke in both The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi?

Could Luke defeating Vader be what he means in Star Wars The Last Jedi? Will this be how he defeats Snoke? Will he even fight Snoke?

I hope we see Kylo burn the temple, it would be cool to see Luke get angry from that (if he does).
