One might argue that using taxpayers money to support a family of priviledged individuals with a history of colonialism might not make sense in 2023 (if it ever did). But did you know that, in the Netherlands, taxpayers get a national holiday out of this deal? What´s a few million euros a year when you get to watch a parade, right? Right? Now go grab that block of cheese and hop on your bike to learn all about King´s Day, the Dutch holiday that mixes some of our all time favorite topics into one celebration: we talking royal scandals, extravagant fashion, the color orange, and, for some reason...yard sales?

Top of the mornin’ to you! It´s time to put on a green top hat and get all the Irish clichés out of the closet to celebrate the 4th drunkest holiday of the year: Saint Patrick´s day! What started as a religious date in honor of the man credited with getting rid of all of the non-existent snakes of Ireland in the 4th century is now a major event on the international party calendar. Every year on the 4th of March an estimated 13 million pints of beer are enjoyed worldwide, all of them in honor of this mysterious British (!) Christian missionary. That´s not all, parades are held all over the world to honor Ireland´s culture and its people. But what is the holiday really about, you ask? Woodson to honor black achievements, elevate black stories, and promote black recognition and much needed respect in the U.S of A. after centuries of slavery and oppression, the month of February is now internationally known as "Black history month", even if only officially observed by The U.S. and Canada (and the U.K. in another month, but that's another story). Way more than fun and games, we say the world cup is one of the biggest non-holiday-holiday in the world! It might not be an official celebration, but it has special traditions, customs, even major pop songs released just for the occasion - and the last world cup in 2018 was "observed" by over 3.5 BILLION PEOPLE. It´s not because you´re not in India that you can´t celebrate Diwali! The welcoming Indian community of Berlin got together in the city to celebrate the festival of lights in style, even if away from home. We, of course, couldn´t miss out on this action! There was bright lights shinning everywhere, the most lively music playing all day long, people on their feet dancing non stop, and don´t let us get started on the food. Plus, the people visiting the festival were the sweetest, and took the time to share with us knowledge about the holiday, how to celebrate it, and what is the true meaning of Diwali.
