For years people have asked me why I do not speak about the Hebrew calendar year, why I do not teach the numerology behind its letters and numbers, and why I have ceased making prophetic declarations about any given calendar year. This episode is my answer. It is not an attack on anyone. It is an account of why I have come to keep my distance from these practices. What I will offer is rooted in what my own formation has shown me in Scripture and in the Tradition over the last two and a half decades, and it is why I have come to believe that the calendar, for all its glory, was never given to us as a prophetic instrument.
