The New York Islanders open a seven-game homestand tonight when they face the Ottawa Senators. These seven games can have a huge impact on the future of the franchise, not just for this season but for a few years to come. Four of these seven games are against teams the Isles are fighting for a playoff spot against. 

If the Isles play well and earn 10 points or more, they are right in the thick of the playoff hunt  and Lou Lamoriello is unlikely to consider selling any players off his roster. If they stumble, he could actually realize it's time to retool.
