The world of video games has been a little slow as of late so we take some time to talk about eSports, or at least the history of eSports as we remember them. We are not professional historians, which makes our misremembering a lot more fun. We also talk about how Charley is making nothing but the worst choices when it comes to past video game addictions, and something about Jeff playing video games that are not League Of Legends.
While the Wicked Awesome Cast is normally all about gamer things and other similar stuff, this week Jeff and Charley give into their less gamer sides and discuss sports, specifically hockey, and some esports stuff. They also run through some interesting news stories of last week, talk extensively about Twitch, and even somehow manage to bring up The Purge.
For a while now the world of Let's Plays has been treated as a kind of grey zone when it comes to legality. On one hand it provides companies with free advertising, on the other it is possible to potentially link an excess of videos that catalogue a game in detail to poor sales. This week we talk about The Dragon Cancer, narrative games in general, hear yet another abnormal childhood story from Charley (this ones about shamans), and really hope Jeff feels better next week since he now has sexy older woman voice.
What do creepy VR games, Krampus, forgotten game mechanics, twenty feet of chain, and Japan needing to snap out of it and rise from the ashes of their crumbling video game industry al have to do with each other? Well, they are all topics on this weeks Wicked Awesome Cast. Join Charley and Jeff as they descent into madness and stray so far from the main topic that Charley defends Dead Or Alive Ultimate's right to exist and simultaneously condemns it.
If you have ever wondered what Jeff and Charley think of VR, this is definitely the place to find out. In this week's podcast we discuss The Division a little bit more, talk about some Riot stuff, mention Hearthstone, wax nostalgically over Harvest Moon 64, and in our big topic debate discuss our thoughts on the various VR options as they stand now that pricing is out there for the majority of them.
This week we run through our weeks, get Charley's first reactions to Tom Clancy's The Division, and then talk in depth about how games with strong mechanics and gameplay compare against games that focus on the more presentational aspects like story and graphics.
Anyone who has ever played a really, and we mean REALLY, good video game knowns that it can be incredibly hard to put a video game down. Whether it's the quest for loot, some kind of impossibly fun mechanic, a biting difficulty that makes every inch you gain a major victory, or just watching the numbers go up the games we play "too much of" all have something that some might refer to as addictive.
After doing the usual weekly rundowns Jeff and Charley spend some time reminiscing about a few of the games that they would describe themselves as being "addicted" to. We cover League Of Legends, Destiny, Resident Evil 4, Soulcalibur 3, World of Warcraft, Team Fortress 2, and Border Lands 2. All of this in prep for The Division coming out this week.

It's been a bit of a slow drip for video game news lately so Jeff and Charley choose to talk hardware all of types. They nerd out about recording gear, video game consoles, and even cabling a few times in our main topic this week. Charley also recalls some of his somewhat related nefarious dealings over the years including buying a spite PS4 and you can all but hear Jeff roll his eyes at the antics.
Jeff and Charley decide to use a slow news week to take a step back and tell the tale of how Something Wicked Studios came to be. Probably should have done that in Episode #1, but eh, things happen.
