U.S Navy Lt. j.g. Alixzandra Peña, Floresville native and 2012 Floresville High School alumna, has successfully completed an 18-month Naval Supply Corps school in Newport, R.I. Peña graduated as the top-performing student in all supply disciplines, earning the distinction of honor graduate. During the graduation ceremony, she was presented with an officer’s ceremonial saber by Vice Admiral Dion English. At least 11 people have died in Texas, nearly half of them children, after Winter Storm Fern swept the state last week, the Texas Standard reported. Among those killed were three young brothers who fell through ice on a private pond near Bonham, about 60 miles northeast of Texas.
