Ireland's largest representative body for the wind energy sector believes Clare could become a pilot area for testing floating offshore projects.
It follows a proposal put forward at the Oireachtas Committee on Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, which focused on planning challenges in renewable energy.
Clare's coast has the potential to harness roughly 70 Gigga-Watts of green electricity, however a zoning map for sites to be developed, won't be ready until the end of 2027.
Responding to Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Cooney, Wind Energy Ireland External Affairs Director Justin Moran says testing sites are needed.
