Richard, a UK native, embarked on a journey across the globe before settling in South Africa in 1999 to pursue his passion for winemaking. Founding Richard Kershaw Wines in 2012, he dedicated himself to crafting site-specific, cool climate wines in the Elgin Valley, renowned as South Africa's coolest wine region. His focus on noble grape varieties, capable of producing exceptional wines, has led to a collection of highly sought-after and award-winning wines, such as the Kershaw Elgin Chardonnay, Syrah, and Pinot Noir, as well as the innovative Kershaw Deconstructed Chardonnay and Syrah. As one of only ten Masters of Wine actively involved in winemaking and the sole Master of Wine in South Africa, Richard is in high demand both in and out of the vineyard. He serves as a judge for esteemed wine competitions worldwide, contributes to the educational endeavors of the Institute of Masters of Wine, lectures for the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) in South Africa, and generously shares his wealth of knowledge through engaging talks, tastings, and insightful blogs.

The Porto Protocol is a non-profit Foundation founded by Taylor’s Port that counts hundreds of global companies and individuals united by a binding commitment to act against climate change. They welcome members who subscribe to their Letter of Principles to develop or continue a program/solution to mitigate climate crisis and share the results. They work as an open and shared platform, a dynamic database of resources, ideas, programs, and workable solutions. They invite companies and individuals worldwide to collaborate by implementing and sharing their solutions and positive changes towards climate change. Our host for this event is Marta Mendoza. Marta has built most of her career in Marketing & Sales, having worked with various brands, countries, industries, and companies. In the past few years, before joining Porto Protocol, Marta was working with her own brand and consultancy project, through which she took sustainability and climate advocacy to schools, events, and companies, promoting awareness and encouraging change. Marta holds a degree in International Relations, a Post-Graduation in Marketing, and a Master's in Corporate Social Responsibility.

João L. Barroso, Sustainability Manager for the Wines of Alentejo (part of the Alentejo Regional Winegrowing Commission), Portugal, has a degree in Environmental Engineering from ULHT, in Portugal and a Master in Science in Environmental Management and Policy from Lund University, in Sweden. He has over 18 years of experience in the environmental and sustainability sector, having lived in worked in Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. He has worked on a variety of projects such as environmental impact assessments, pollution prevention, cleaner production, environmental and waste management, green buildings, climate change, and sustainability reporting. Currently, as coordinator of the Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Program (WASP), he manages and monitors the sustainability performance of the biggest wine region in Portugal, researching and implementing best practices, and promoting experience exchange between the members of the program, both growers and producers. Alentejo Regional Winegrowing Commission - was founded in 1989 as a private institution dedicated to certifying, controlling, and protecting the Alentejo PDO and Alentejano PGI wines. It is responsible for promoting the Alentejo wines both domestically and in selected international markets. Alentejo is the only wine producing region in Portugal with a sustainability program, volunteer, and free of charge. Funding for the CVRA comes from the sale of certification seals to be placed on the back label of Alentejo bottles to guarantee the origin of the wine
