Sarah's birthday always falls the same weekend as Capital Pride, and this year, she skipped out on the party we threw for her. Chris catches her up on the festivities and all the fun she missed out on! Happy Pride to all!!!

We're joined again by Naomi Bertram, our original wino! Sarah and Naomi are both educators, and since Chris' parents are teachers, we all feel strongly about the subject of education. We talked about the challenges facing public education in the US, and gushed over our mascot Lucas reading a book to a cat.

Another one of Chris' interviews with interesting scientists! Chris sat down again with Amy Porter (see episode #48) to discuss the challenges of being a working scientist and pregnant mom, all at the same time.

It's a banner day here at Wine with Friends! We are joined today by the Original Wino herself, Naomi Bertram! Naomi was Sarah's roommate and childhood friend for many, many years, and has known Chris since he first met her the first week of college. We've all been friends for longer than anyone can really remember, and we decided to reminisce about ridiculous stories of our past. Buckle up, it's a crazy ride full of killer squirrels, neon green cake, and some of the worst apartments you can imagine.

We sat down this week with friend and official wineo Amy Porter. Amy is a scientist, and Chris' grad school roommate. We discussed how their careers have taken them in polar opposite directions, but how, against all odds, they've ended up obsessing about similar things in the scientific enterprise. We talked all the aspects of it we like and what we think needs to seriously consider changing if we are ever going to adjust to the new scientific world.

Sarah sits down with Michael Douglas for the third in their series of conversations. This time they talk about one of their favorite topics, politics. They think through what gets them to the polls and what issues are nonnegotiable in a candidate and a party. Somewhere along the way they come to the conclusion that a two party system might just be the best thing, whether we like it or not.

Chris went to a taping of a game show! It was ridiculous and fun, and we of course had to fill Sarah in on all the fun. We're both gonna go next time!

Have you ever heard of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact? Neither had Sarah, but this is right up Chris' geeky alley. Chris brings Sarah up to speed on what the NPVIC is, which state just joined, and how it could change electoral politics in the U.S.
