Winning at Failing with Glenn Grimwood

Perth comedian, Glenn Grimwood, dropped by a couple of months back (I’ve fallen behind on the episode releases!) to share his experiences with chronic performance anxiety.

Performance anxiety, or stage fright, is officially categorised as a subset of GLOSSOPHOBIA (a fear of public speaking), which is a type of social phobia. Believe it or not, many artists battle this fear. It’s much more common than you think… but they get up and do it anyway and I think that’s totally kickass! Michael Gambon, Stephen Fry, Jennifer Lawrence, and Adele all know the crippling effects of stage fright. Heck, even Ghandi was terrified of public speaking.

I’m no different and I was about to do my very first comedy set at Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den, so it was a timely topic for me. I really enjoyed my chat with Glenn. I hope you do too.

Welcome to Episode 1: Winning at Failing – The Podcast featuring Perth younin’s Ashlee Brown and Camilla Boswell Hyde.

Ashlee has a performing arts background, she’s the creater of Perth’s only comedy sketch show, FishBowl TV, and is now sharing her comedic skills on Tonightly with Tom Ballard and the Sydney comedy circuit.

Camilla is a regular on the Perth comedy scene at rooms such as Fremantle Comedy Factory and Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den’s Shapiro Tuesdays. She’s a naturally funny performer, with her current set recently winning first prize at Comedy Lounge’s Gong Show.
