Winning at Failing with Glenn Grimwood
Perth comedian, Glenn Grimwood, dropped by a couple of months back (I’ve fallen behind on the episode releases!) to share his experiences with chronic performance anxiety.
Performance anxiety, or stage fright, is officially categorised as a subset of GLOSSOPHOBIA (a fear of public speaking), which is a type of social phobia. Believe it or not, many artists battle this fear. It’s much more common than you think… but they get up and do it anyway and I think that’s totally kickass! Michael Gambon, Stephen Fry, Jennifer Lawrence, and Adele all know the crippling effects of stage fright. Heck, even Ghandi was terrified of public speaking.
I’m no different and I was about to do my very first comedy set at Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den, so it was a timely topic for me. I really enjoyed my chat with Glenn. I hope you do too.L
