  • Know your value, get paid top-dollar! Salary negotiation strategy
Today we are digging into knowing your value so that you can negotiate your work. Well just for those of you who are catching up, you don't know who I am. I'm president @zerogap.co and at zerogap We work with companies in male-dominated industries to deliver women's leadership training programs. So as we dive into knowing your value so that you can negotiate your worth, this is a very personal topic because worth is tied to a lot of personal beliefs and talking about money is also deeply personal. So first off we're not going to tackle any woo crazy things today. We're going to go through some very practical items that you can use. So if you have a pen and pad, you definitely want to chat down a few notes here. Okay. So when it comes to knowing your value, what do I mean by that?
That term gets thrown around very loosely. A lot of people use the term, know your value, but when it comes to your workplace and knowing your value in the workplace, it's about understanding how you solve problems. And how you contribute in a meaningful way to achieve big goals. So each company, when they hire an employee, whether it is the CEO or someone on the entry-level, they're hiring that person to fill a gap. There is a problem that that company is trying to solve and they need a person in that position to actually go through and do the work. That's where the employee comes in. Again, doesn't matter what level you're on at each level, there are expectations now just doing the bare minimum. That's what the paycheck is for. You're paid to do the work, but when you go above and beyond and when you start to deliver exceptional value to the organization, that's where you get to go in and ask for a promotion or a raise or more responsibility or to be placed on special assignments and tied to a bigger bonus.

  • Problem solving using the LATTE Negotiation Method
With as many problems as all women leaders in male-dominated fields are faced within their profession and workplace, it looks like there is never enough time and resources to solve each one without encountering hardships on the way.
Problems keep escalating so fast that often times leaders are forced to take shortcuts to briefly ease the tension points and find solutions to the next problem. As a result, they fail to solve the root of each problem, therefore remaining in an ending-cycle that makes it an uphill task to find any effective solution.
That’s where ZeroGap.co. comes in handy. We curate leadership learning experiences to help companies to be more innovative and competitive while tapping into a diverse talent pool.
Why does this matter, focusing on women in male-dominated industries? There are numerous reports that show that companies who are diverse in leadership, they innovate and drive higher profitability than those companies who aren't as diverse.
At the end of the day, we're all in business, to achieve goals and to make money and if we're not driving results as leaders, we’re going to be extinct. That's what ZeroGap.co does. That's why we curate these leadership experiences to develop the leaders in your organization so that you have a strong pipeline of diverse people leading in your organization.
Today’s episodes covers a topic that most people want to avoid – problem-solving. We're no strangers to problems in our personal and professional lives. When it comes to creating solutions, best practices for problem-solving, there are two core skills that can't be overlooked: negotiation and executive presence. How do we boost those skills within our leaders so that they can handle problems very quickly and efficiently with the information that they have available?
Sometimes we have the luxury of time and getting plenty of information. But if we're realistic, that's not always the case. Today, Jacqueline V. Twillie, President of ZeroGap.co, is going to show us how we can solve problems using the LATTE and AHA Method.
Two Problem Solving Techniques Outlined in This Episode
    LATTE Method:
    ·        L: look at the details
    ·        A: Anticipate challenges
    ·        T: Think about your walk-away points
    ·        T: Talk it through
    ·        E: Evaluate Options
    AHA Method
    ·        A: Actions
    ·        H: Habit
    ·        A: Attitudes
    [03:05] Look at details
Gather as much information as you can, at the time
    [03:10] Anticipate challenges
That's where you think long term. Strategy comes into play here.
[03:23] Think about your walk-away points
At what point do we pull away? Do we shut this down? Do we move to something else?
    [03:30] Talk it through
Who else needs to be involved in this conversation, so that when this is rolled out, it's rolled out in a smooth manner?
    [03:45] Evaluate options
Evaluate what you‘re going to do in the most efficient manner in terms of time
[04:15] After the problems are solved, it’s time to use the AHA Method
    ·         A: Attitudes
    ·         H: Habits
    ·         A: Actions
[04:30] Go back and evaluate the Attitude, Habits, and Actions that led you to that point.
[05:00] Think about what you need to repeat or stop doing going forward.
[05:30] What executive presence has to do with problem-solving
[06:00] Executive presence allows your leaders to communicate more effectively with their team members, peers, and the stakeholders involved.

  • Leading Teams using the LATTE Method
Companies in male-dominated industries have an awesome opportunity to be competitive and innovative with a diverse team. A recent research shows that companies that embrace diversity in leadership innovate at a faster rate, increase profitability, and pride themselves in better employee engagement and retention than their competitors who have non-diverse leadership teams.
Additionally, companies with diverse teams are better at problem-solving, have a broader client base and more engaged customers leading to increased revenues. Therefore, diversity is crucial for any business and there’s a huge untapped lucrative potential for those leaders who do not yet use diversity as a significant tactic for growth, innovation, and competitiveness in their companies.
In today’s episode of PowerBanking, we're talking about leading teams using the LATTE Method. What is LATTE? LATTE is an acronym. It's a negotiation framework. We’re going to learn how top leaders can rely on diverse, integrative teams that combine the collective competencies of men and women, people of different ethnicities, older and younger to grow their organizations and increase profit margins using the LATTE Method.
If you are a leader in your organization, who self-profess and say, “I'm not a good negotiator,” here's an excellent opportunity to find ways every day, whether it's within one team or across departments, to collaborate more efficiently and effectively to help you accelerate your results.
