  • Day 1644 – Don’t Give Up – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Day 1644 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomDon't Give Up – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! We are on Day 1644 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Coach Tom Landry, and it is: A champion is simply someone who did not give in when he wanted to.
    Don’t Give Up
Perseverance is the golden key to success and being a champion. Without perseverance, the likelihood of failure and loss increases dramatically. Perseverance is not easy. It means that you keep going in the face of severe opposition. It means that you keep going, even when you are exhausted. It means you keep going even when you feel like giving up. Others may look at the life of Granny and me and think, well, they have had it easy, or they just seem to keep going no matter what. Believe me; we have not lived on easy street. We both came from very humble childhoods, with nothing in the way of material resources. Since we have been married, we have had to work extremely hard, and have put in many long days. We have also scrimped and saved, willing to put off obtaining what we desire now, for what we hope for long term. At times, we have been misunderstood and have been called scrooge because of our conservative spending habits. That is ok with us, Granny and I are closely aligned in our thoughts about spending and investing. We like to invest in the long term. It does require perseverance to do so, but so does victory in any area of our lives. If we live just for today, we will have many sad tomorrows. We also need to be victorious champions in our spiritual lives. We need to continue, even when we feel like giving up. We need to rejoice that we have the God-given strength to persevere.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%205%3A3%2D5andversion=NLT (Romans 5:3-5)
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

  • Day 1643 – Opposition Is Great – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Day 1643 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomOpposition Is Great – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. We are on Day 1643 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from John Neal, and it is: A certain amount of opposition is a great help to a man. Kites rise against, not with, the wind.
    Opposition Is Great
This quote for today is undoubtedly accurate. An eagle will never soar to its lofty heights on calm winds. They must soar high to see all of the abundant food that God is providing for them. Let’s bring it back down to earth and think of a grain of wheat or kernel of corn. Unless it is buried in the ground, it will never germinate and push through the soil to reach for the sun. Think of the mighty oak tree that reaches hundreds of feet into the air towards the nourishment of the sun. When the mighty oak is buffeted with torrential wind and rain, it sends its roots deep into the ground to hold it in place and seek its nutrients. So it is with humankind. The difficult times in our lives force us to mature and grow. It is the refining fire of adversity that allows us to come out as pure gold. It is the times when we must reach deep into our souls and cry out to our creator that God provides the strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow. Look to heaven for your strength. The kite rises highest against the wind, not with the wind. Rise up, rise high! Rejoice during the times of significant opposition, for it is during these times where we are drawn closest to God.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James+1%3A2-8andversion=NLT (James 1:2-8)
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from James Keller, and it is: A candle loses nothing of its light by lighting another candle.
    Let Your Light Shine
Based on the philosophy of many individuals, you would think that when attempting to light a candle from another candle, it would completely extinguish the flame of the first candle. Nothing is farther from the truth. When a flame is passed from one to another, it multiplies the overall amount of light exponentially. Compare the light emitted on a birthday cake of a one-year-old to someone who is one hundred. The first is a tiny flicker, and the latter is a bonfire. The same can be said of our lives. When we allow our inner spirit to touch the lives of others, we pass on a flame that continues to grow the more often it is given. When we make it a habit of passing our flame onto many more people, we exponentially enrich many lives. Let’s think about this from a different angle. When we allow others to share their sorrow and grief with us, it lessens that sorrow as we divide it among us. But, if we share our blessings with others, it multiplies those blessings, and they become even more remarkable. So never feel that your flame will be diminished by sharing it with others, instead realize that a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. The fact is, it will exponentially multiply the more we share.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5%3A14-16andversion=NLT (Matthew 5:14-16)
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Henry Ford, and it is: A business that makes nothing but money is a poor kind of business.
    Poor Kind Of Business
Businesses and people who become fixated on just making money will end up self-imploding. There is so much more to the life and success of a company and us personally than just accumulating wealth. If money-making is the objective, although for a time wealth is earned, the overall success of a company or individual will be minimized. Money is so so fleeting, and so temporal. Although a business needs to make a profit, that cannot be the primary objective or vision. A business should provide products or services to others that will enrich their lives in some manner. The owners, employees, and customers of a business must each benefit, or there is no foundation for that company. Our lives need to be the same. We need need to enrich the lives of everyone that God places into our world. Whether we own a company, or as individuals, our central purpose for existence is to build God’s kingdom by positively impacting the lives of everyone we have the opportunity to associate with. With the technology that we have available today, we can influence others throughout the entire world. There has never been a better time with more opportunities than today. The advancement in technology over the next few years or decades will give us the incredible ability to connect to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Share with others in need what God has richly blessed you with.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Timothy+6%3A17-18andversion=NLT (1 Timothy 6:17-18)
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.

Today’s quote is from Mahatma Gandhi, and it is: A burning passion coupled with absolute detachment is the key to all success.
    The Key To All Success
Success manifests itself in various ways, and to some extent, like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder. Most of us think of success in financial or monetary measures, but that is only one indicator of a successful life and certainly not the most important. You can be successful in many areas of life. Some success measures that come to mind are family, ministry, work, business athletics, health, and finances. Being successful in one of these areas indicates whether you will be successful in another area, but correlation does equal causation. You may become highly wealthy from a worldly perspective, but if you neglect your family and it falls apart, success is undoubtedly diminished by a more critical failure. To be successful in any area of life, you must have the passion for being successful and yet personally detached from that success. You must not allow your passion to be successful to compromise your integrity and morals. As Christ-follower, your success must be grounded in the precepts for living found in God’s Word. All success will ultimately come from God, and it is He who we should attribute our success to. That being said, God still expects us to do our part to be successful. As an analogy, God does feed the birds of the air, but He doesn’t throw the worms into the nest for them. So it is with us; we must have the passion for succeeding but never compromise God’s Word to do so.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Joshua%201%3A7andversion=NLT (Joshua 1:7)
Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Jeff Bezos, and it is: A brand for a company is like a reputation for a person. You earn a reputation by trying to do hard things well.
    Your Reputation
Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, and one of the wealthiest people on earth, certainly knows how important a company brand is. His analogy is undoubtedly correct. What a brand is to a company, your reputation is your brand as a person. Just as a company brand is not created overnight, a good reputation is built over years of living a good and godly life. A life lived with honesty, integrity, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. A good reputation should be sought after, but it does not come easy. According to God’s Word, living a life without hypocrisy, doing what is right, requires perseverance, focus, dedication, and an intense desire to live well. It is doing the hard things well. For Amazon, before they became the giant company that touches nearly everyone’s life in some manner, they started out selling books online and lost money for many years. Amazon continued with a vision to do the hard things well, and now their brand is pervasive throughout the world. So it is with us, if we desire to have a worldwide impact with a good reputation for God’s kingdom, we must be willing to live in a manner where we sacrifice the quick and easy, for doing the hard things well.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+3%3A3-6andversion=NLT ( Proverbs 3:3-6)
Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!
Tie them around your neck as a reminder.
Write them deep within your heart.
Then you will find favor with both God and people,
and you will earn a good reputation.
    Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2022%3A1andversion=NLT (Proverbs 22:1)
Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Franz Kafka, and it is: A book should serve as the axe for the frozen sea within us.
    Books Open Your World
Growing up, I was not much of a reader until I was in my 30s when I started reading fiction books. I read the Bible and other study materials earlier, but not for enjoyment, but to prepare lessons or messages. Once I started reading, and experiencing other people, places, and things, that is to say, other worlds, I was hooked. I have been an avid reader ever since. I especially like space-related science-fiction novels that allow me to travel through time and space to worlds unknown and unexplored. I can experience life outside the confines of my terrestrial home.
In recent years, I have switched almost exclusively to audiobooks that I can listen to while working outside, exercising, or a myriad of other activities to allow my mind to travel. I listen to the books at two times the normal speed, allowing me to absorb content much faster while still being wholly immersed in the story. While not all the books I read or listen to are fiction, I will admit fiction makes up most of my list. I like to step outside of the current business and political world that we are part of and travel in my mind. The non-fiction books, which are usually business or Biblically related, open my mind to thoughts and information that I have not experienced. In the past five years in the audiobooks alone, I have listened to almost two hundred books. I also use podcasts in much the same manner, to learn from other information that can help me in business and ministry.

As our quote, today indicates, books, whether physical or audio, will break through the ice that clogs our minds. It opens up the vast sea of information available to us at our fingertips or in our ears and will expand our horizons beyond anything we can imagine. Open your world and take advantage of the wealth of information found in books. It is always worth the investment.

We are on Day 1637 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Thomas Young, and it is: A bold Christian is the highest style of a man or woman.
    A Bold Christian
When you think of a bold person, what comes to your mind? Is it someone with courage? To be bold is not to be mean or a bully. It is described like this: it is not hesitating or fearful in the face of actual or possible danger or rebuff; courageous and daring. Do you respect or admire a bold person?
In our western world, we often think that as Christ-followers, we are being accused or persecuted. While some persecution is happening in our modern democratic countries during the past few years, we are not experiencing anything close to the persecution in some Asian or middle-eastern countries. If you experience severe persecution at some point in your life, will you stand bold as an imager of God? Will you count yourself worthy to suffer? None of us like to suffer, but we must remain bold regardless of what we face in life. When you show boldness, others will notice you and seek to follow your ways. We must stand boldly as Christians because there is nothing that we have or will go through outside the plan of God. As others see our bold stand, it will give them the encouragement and strength to stand bold for their faith. Never underestimate the impact that you have on others. God has promised all that we need to be bold. We have the confidence to go before God boldly. Stand strong, stand bold.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%204%3A16andversion=NLT (Hebrews 4:16)
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

  • Day 1636– Undefeated – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Day 1636 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomUndefeated – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. We are on Day 1636 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Ray Comfort, and it is: A blind, anemic, weak-kneed flea on crutches would have a greater chance of defeating a herd of a thousand wild stampeding elephants, than the enemy has of defeating God.
    Undefeated
The comparison in today’s quote gives us a minor glimpse of the power of God. In other words, no person, government, world power, or supernatural being can ever come close to defeating God. God is the creator of the universe and supreme over everything that He created. When I ponder the magnitude of the universe with its billions of stars, planets, solar systems, and the untold number of galaxies, I feel like I am the flee in today’s quote, quite incapable of grasping God’s power and might. Based on this knowledge, I am confident that I never have to fear or worry because our mighty God is in control of all. God has made us His imagers and representatives on earth. We are called to build His kingdom on earth, as it is in heaven. God’s original plan for Eden was not stopped; it is still ongoing through us. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, His plan to restore Eden was put in place. Through each of us individually and His earthly body, the church His plan will be fulfilled. The mighty God cannot be defeated.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+50%3A1-6andversion=NLT (Psalm 50:1-6)
The Lord, the Mighty One, is God,
    and he has spoken;
    he has summoned all humanity
from where the sun rises to where it sets.
From Mount Zion, the perfection of beauty,
    God shines in glorious radiance.
    Our God approaches,
    and he is not silent.
Fire devours everything in his way,
and a great storm rages around him.
He calls on the heavens above and earth below
to witness the judgment of his people.
“Bring my faithful people to me—
those who made a covenant with me by giving sacrifices.”
Then let the heavens proclaim his justice,
for God himself will be the judge.

  • Day 1635– Real Money – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Day 1635 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomReal Money – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. We are on Day 1635 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Evertt Dirksen, and it is: A billion here, a billion there; the first thing you know, we're talking about real money.
    Real Money
While this quote is rather humorous, I believe that most of us would love to have a billion here or there. The fact is most of us are way too focused and even somewhat obsessed with gaining as much wealth as possible. What would you do with a billion dollars, or even a million? We can dream, and our dream would be lofty. It is hard for us even to comprehend. Through countless studies, it has been determined that earning anything over $70,000 per year does not increase our happiness or satisfaction with life. Having a substantial amount of money has a converse effect on our happiness. I know you probably think, maybe, but it sure would be fun to try and prove those studies wrong. I know for my life and many others, we focus too much on having money. We think that if we had more money, we could do so much more to help others. The truth is, how you spend or invest your money now is very similar to how you would act if you had an abundance of wealth. Your habits would not change much. We worry about not having enough, but if we are not generous with the small amount that we currently have, we will be no more generous if we have more. It is a heart attitude regardless of whether you have little or much. God’s Word does encourage us to be wise stewards of what God has provided to us. We should not be frivolous with our money but invest wisely and in that which will impact eternity. In the end, that is where the real money is stored.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew+6%3A19-21andversion=NLT (Matthew 6:19-21)
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
