  • Day 1654 – Servant Lord – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Day 1654 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomServant Lord – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! We are on Day 1654 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Martin Luther, and it is: A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none. A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant of all, subject to all.
    Servant Lord
As true imagers of God, we do have the ability to choose. We are not automatons who are receiving divine mental direction from our creator. Yes, if we are seeking, God’s Spirit will guide us, but we still can choose. God can choose, and since we are imagers of Him, he has granted us that ability. Jesus Christ, who is God who became human, decided to do so. Throughout His life, He was faced with every type of temptation as we are, and yet He did not sin. He chose to remain loyal to His divine nature. It is the same for us. We are free to lord over others treating them in a manner that is not according to God’s Word. We are also free to be a perfectly dutiful servant that chooses to place ourselves under others and be subject to them. Christ was the perfect imager of God, and so we should follow His example, with the help of the Holy Spirit, and be willing to serve others as Christ came to serve.

After they arrived at Capernaum and settled in a house, Jesus asked his disciples, “What were you discussing out on the road?” But they didn’t answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest. He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”
Then he put a little child among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me.”

  • Day 1653 – A Keyhole To God – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Day 1653 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Keyhole To God – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. We are on Day 1653 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Robert E. Gibson, and it is: A Christian is a keyhole through which other folks see God.
    The Keyhole To God
Do others see God in you? There is no way that we as fallen humans can do justice to God’s magnificence, but does your life show a tiny glimpse of God? After all, we are created to be God’s imagers. To show forth His attributes and character traits. I know, most of the time, we are a poor reflection of who God really is, but your life should show enough light that others can see God through you. Think about a time when you were a child, or maybe even as an adult where you looked through a keyhole to get a tiny view of what lies beyond a closed door. If the next room did not have a light shining in it, you would see nothing. If there were an obstacle is blocking the keyhole, you would not be able to see into the next room. Yes, your perspective would be governed by the small part of the room that you could actually see. So it is with us; if others are looking through the keyhole, represented through our lives, they should know the radiance of God through us. Let the light of God shine for all to see through the keyhole, which is our lives.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+13%3A11-13andversion=NLT (1 Corinthians 13:11-13)
When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Welcome to Day 1652 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomEncourage Everyone – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today’s quote is from Max Lucado, and it is: A Christian in his surroundings should encourage everyone to be better, instead of being the one who stoops to be like everyone else.
    Encourage Everyone
As Christ-followers, we are to be distinctly different from those who are not, but in a very positive manner. Instead of blending in with our current culture, we need to be defining what the culture should be as a disciple of Christ. Our world view and outlook on life are not the same as what is so intelligently portrayed on TV, the news media, or much of social media. Where we see division and strife, we should be demonstrating love and encouragement. Where we see people cutting down others, we should be building others up. Where we see anger and violence, we should be promoting unity and peace. Instead of stooping to the dangerous level of those who do not know Christ, we should be climbing on the towering rock of safety. Our natural habitat as citizens of God’s kingdom should be reflected in the fruit of the Spirit that inhabits us. When we act as if we are not part of God’s kingdom, we are not adequately representing the King of our kingdom. We need to encourage everyone we meet to be better. We are not to stoop down to be like those who are not yet part of God’s kingdom. We are to have the same attitude as Christ.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians+2%3A1-4andversion=NLT (Philippians 2:1-4)
Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

Welcome to Day 1651 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomTruly Free – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from a Lyof N. Tolstoy, and it is: A Christian cannot help being free, because in the pursuit and attainment of his object, no one can either hinder or retard him.
    Truly Free
In the western world, we hear about freedom and have fought many wars to maintain that freedom. America was founded because of the desire to be free. We cherish independence and are willing to rise to preserve it. Freedom has been sought after since the beginning of humankind. The first couple, Adam and Eve, were driven by their desire to be free from God’s single restriction. Since we are created to be bearers of God’s image, we have to recognize that we have the freedom to choose. God had to give us the freedom to choose if we are to image God fully. When Jesus Christ was on the earth, all Jews, including the entire religious class, thought that the Messiah would come and free them from the oppressive Roman government. That was not the type of freedom for which Christ came to earth. God became human through the incarnation of Jesus Christ to restore Eden on earth by building up God’s kingdom. Christ pointed out to the religious leaders of His day that they were not only slaves to the Roman government, they were also slaves to their sin. When we know the truth of who Jesus is and remain faithful to His teaching, we will be free. Nothing can put us in bondage again once we are truly free.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+8%3A31-36andversion=NLT (John 8:31-36)
Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” “But we are descendants of Abraham,” they said. “We have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean, ‘You will be set free’?” Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

  • Day 1650 – Carrying A Heavy Load – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Day 1650 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomCarrying A Heavy Load – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek.
Today’s quote is from a Croft M. Pentz, and it is: A chip on the shoulder is the heaviest load you can carry.
    Carrying A Heavy Load
There is no heavier load that you can carry in this world than a load of unforgiveness, anger, and bitterness. These are the three components that make up the chip that you carry on your shoulder. If you have a chip on your shoulder, it means you feel angry because someone mistreated you, holding a grudge.
This phrase originated in the USA in the 1800s. It refers to a practice where people who were looking for a physical fight would place a chip of wood on their shoulders, challenging others to knock it off. A chip on your shoulder is a metaphor which means that you are habitually negative, combative, or have a hostile attitude, usually because of a deep resentment or long-held grievance.
Having this type of attitude is no way to live, especially as Christ-followers. Anger and resentment is a heavy burden that hurts others and damages the person who is carrying them. It will cause physical, emotional, and spiritual damage that will eventually destroy the person who bears the burden. So instead of daring someone else to knock the chip off your shoulder, please take it in your hand and throw it into the deepest sea. Forgive others if necessary, and put the past behind you. Each day is a new day to impact others positively as we continue to build God’s kingdom.

Jesus’s half-brother James puts it this way in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James%201%3A19%2D21andversion=NLT (James 1:19-21) Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.

Today’s quote is from a Chinese Proverb, and it is: A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every passerby leaves a mark.
    Leave Your Mark
We will impact every child that passes through our life. It is impossible not to leave a mark on their life. We have a great responsibility to make sure that the marks we leave are positive and encouraging. Even more important than that is the fact that we will influence them for all eternity. This is especially true of our children and grandchildren, but it also applies to all children we are around. It may be our nieces or nephews. It may be children we meet at school functions or social events. It may be friends of our children that come over to our house. It may be children that you coach, teach at church, or mentor in some other manner. Regardless of how we are associated with a child, it is our God-given responsibility to point them in the direction of His eternal kingdom. This can be accomplished through attitudes and actions, or when we have a direct opportunity to teach them. The marks we leave on each child must be positive and in line with God’s precepts found in His Word. To do less than that is missing the mark, and an opportunity.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2018%3A5%2D7andversion=NLT (Matthew 18:5-7)
“And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me. But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea. “What sorrow awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting.

Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Aldous Huxley, and it is: A childlike person is not a man whose development has been arrested; on the contrary, they are a person who has given themselves a chance of continuing to develop long after most adults have muffled themselves in the cocoon of middle age habit and convention.
    A Childlike Person
As children, we are endlessly curious and willing to explore anything that comes into our path. Unfortunately, as we experience life, depending on how many restraints are placed on us as we are developing, most people lose their natural curiosity and wonder for life. For the most part, our school systems do not foster creativity and a chance to learn based on our innate personalities but attempt to conform us into a structure that is not natural for most children. Parents and grandparents need to make sure that their children are given permission and encouraged to learn and grow without stifling them. Yes, I realize that we have to protect our children and grandchild from harm, but in far too many cases, we overcompensate to the point where we don’t allow them to fulfill their God-given potential. As our children grow into adulthood, we need to teach them to mature and be responsible without being muffled into the cocoon of middle-age habits and convention. We as adults need to take off the shackles that have been placed on us and open up the curiosity and creativity that has been repressed deep within us. There is a significant difference between having childlike faith, curiosity, and wonder and being childish. Being childish as adults manifest itself as selfishness and irresponsibility. Jesus Christ fully understood this childlike faith when he blessed the children as written in Luke 18:15-17- One day some parents brought their little children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But when the disciples saw this, they scolded the parents for bothering him. Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”

Welcome to Day 1647 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomFinding God In You – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. We are on Day 1647 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Austin Sorensen, and it is: A child is not likely to find a father in God unless he finds something of God in his father.
    Finding God In You
Godly parenting is not easy, but it is essential. How a child views life, their role in the world, and their concept of God often comes from how effective we are as parents. I realize that each child has their own will and is ultimately responsible for the decisions and choices they make in life, but that does not absolve us as parents and grandparents, to set them on the right path, and point them in the right direction. There is a verse in Proverbs that shares some good advice for us. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2022%3A6andversion=NLT (Proverbs 22:6) - Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. This verse is not a guarantee that your children will not deviate, but it certainly provides them with a path to which they can return based on your divine direction. If you are a father or grandfather (or hope to be at some point), your responsibility is even greater. Since God’s Word refers to God as our heavenly father, our children’s perception of God will largely be determined by how they view you as a father. Your children are not likely to find a father in God unless they see God-like qualities in you as their father. I urge you as parents, and especially fathers, to live a good and godly life before your children at all times. It will have a significant impact on their lives throughout eternity. The most powerful way to build God’s kingdom on earth is through your family, especially your children. When they see and follow your example of a godly life based on the precepts found in God’s Word, they are likely to pass that example onto their children. These practices can be passed on through many generations, which will impact all of eternity. Never underestimate your impact on building God’s kingdom, especially as a godly father. It is then your children will see an all-loving God as their heavenly father. Be a good and holy leader and example to your children.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2013%3A7andversion=NLT (Hebrews 13:7)

  • Day 1646 – Assume Responsibility – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Day 1646 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomAssume Responsibility – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. We are on Day 1646 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Antoine de Saint-Exupery, and it is: A leader is a person who assumes responsibility. They say, I was beaten. They do not say, my team was beaten.
    Assume Responsibility
I realize that it is a problem that has been with us since the beginning of human history. Still, it sure seems like we live in a generation where way too many people are unwilling to accept responsibility. There is such an entitlement mentality among many people that I find it hard to accept. I realize that others may not have had the solid upbringing and parental training that I was blessed with, but our modern society lacks this same training. Especially as a leader, or person of authority, we must assume responsibility for every choice and decision we make and for every action we take. It is not easy to assume the responsibility at times, mainly when you may not have directly involved, but those you are responsible for have not performed correctly. If you lead others, you automatically become ultimately responsible for all of their decisions and actions. If you are willing to do this, those you lead will learn from you and respect your leadership. Let us take time to train those we lead, which may be employees, associates, children, or grandchildren, to assume responsibility for their decisions and actions. It is up to us to make disciples of those who we impact. It is undoubtedly a principle throughout the entirety of God’s Word. Take time to read the story that Jesus Christ taught about being a faithful servant and accepting responsibility in Matthew 25:14-30.

Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.

  • Day 1645 – A Cheerful Mind – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Day 1645 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomA Cheerful Mind – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. We are on Day 1645 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from George Matthew Adams, and it is: A cheerful frame of mind, reinforced by relaxation...is the medicine that puts all ghosts of fear on the run.
    A Cheerful Mind
Why do we find today so many people who are anxious and fearful? Ultimately all unfounded fear or anxiety is due to a lack of faith that God has everything under His control. As a Christ-follower, we should be filled with joy and, in most situations, be able to have a cheerful mindset. When we can rest in God’s protection and provision, it reinforces our faith that God is in control. It is essential to reinforce our mindset with God’s precepts found in His Word to relax in the truths that we have no reason to be anxious or fearful. A joyful spirit produces a cheerful mind. It will act like medicine to help you relax about the issues that are causing anxiety and fear. When you can relax and be joyful, even during those times that may cause you to fear, you will soon understand that the fear fades away, and you are no longer anxious. Anxiety and fear will become a ghost and quickly fade away from your mind. I understand that each of us has weaknesses where we allow fear and anxiety to seize hold of us, and our faith may falter. God understands this also. While I have not counted them personally, I have read many times that there are 365 verses in God’s Word to overcome and conquer fear. That is one for each day of the year. So, do not fear or be anxious. Instead, cultivate a joyful and cheerful mind, and reinforce it daily so that you can relax in God’s provision and strength. Draw on that strength.

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord, your God is with you wherever you go.”

A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.
