Can Mike Make a Hit Podcast?

This is a special edition with a special guest where we seek the answer to the age-old question “Can Mike make a hit podcast?” Helping explore this question is Richard Mitson, a former news editor and journalist from jolly ol’ England. Richard is somewhat of a podcasting expert. He’s started and quit five different podcasts. He now hosts a podcast titled “Can I Make a Hit Podcast?” Mike and Richard talk about all things podcasting. If you’ve ever thought about starting your own podcast, you probably shouldn’t. There are already 900,000+ of them out there, so what could you possibly have to add to the medium?

But, if we haven’t sufficiently discouraged you, take notes while you listen to this episode. If you are now convinced that you have no business making a podcast, just listen and be entertained as Mike and Richard go “behind the scenes”, if you will, to explore what actually makes a successful podcast. It will give you a little bit of a look inside the psyche of the mind behind Wisecrackin With Winter, if you’re in to such things.

In addition to the ins and outs of podcasting, Rich gives Mike some British perspectives on American politics, celebrities, and social media. And Mike? Well, you know he’s got opinions to share, as always.

  • Cops, CHOP, & Crybabies, Oh #McMuffinKaren!

Cops, CHOP, & Crybabies, Oh #McMuffinKaren!

Victeronica Herringbone joins Mike to discuss all kinds of fun stuff. The citizens of Orange County revolt against the idea of wearing masks. Mike runs the risk of convincing the world he’s human after all when he weighs in on the #McMuffinKaren video. Are other cops across the county being poisoned? Tune in to hear more.

Have you heard about the CHAZ/CHOP in Seattle? Find out what it’s all about to see if you should start one in your town. Which is the best Danny Masterson sitcom: That ’70s Show or The Ranch? Answer to be revealed after Danny polls the population of the L.A. County Jail. Don’t miss Mike’s musical ode to the recently arrested actor.

As the royalties keep pouring in, the Funhouse budget has expanded again with the hiring of a new exclusive sports reporter. Zack Lamotte makes his Wisecrackin debut to talk all about all the sports that aren’t currently happening. Don’t worry. The Big G’s sports report segments haven’t been canceled. He’ll be back as soon as the actual games resume, probably, if not sooner, maybe.

  • The World Has Become a Laugh Riot

The World Has Become a Laugh Riot

Well, it hasn’t necessary been the best two weeks for comedy. So, Mike decided to take a little break from trying to be funny. It’s been really tough on him. It’s not that he doesn’t care at all, but he’d just rather have fun. It’s why he lives in the Funhouse. And you can only keep the fun out of the Funhouse for so long. Producer Paul comes along for the ride back to the fun zone of the Funhouse.

Xtra! Xtra! The Big G has been spotted back at the Funhouse! It’s been so, so long since you’ve heard from him. He’ll talk sports (are those a thing?), protests and rioting, Biden v. Trump, and he’ll even tell you what little he’s required to wear at his southern compound.

Are Facebook friends real friends? Mike and Paul discuss, which may or may not help explain that for you. There’s just so much in this episode. More sports. More this. More that. You’ll probably want to hear from Mike’s chief conspiracy correspondent, Mr. X.

Why Do Home-Schooled Kids Stink Like Soup?

The podcast’s favorite teenager joins Mike in the Funhouse to discuss getting schooled from home during the Mambo #5 pandemic lockdown. Now, all school kids can smell like mom’s favorite lunch. Emma and Mike run through a list of umpteen things you should do to improve yourself during the pandemic.

Mike gets updated on all the hottest apps and tries again to find out what’s up with TikTok. They shoot the breeze about video games, and of course, they run down the Billboard Top 10.

  • You Say Pandemic, I Say Plandemic

You Say Pandemic, I Say Plandemic

Mike and Producer Paul have a somewhat well-rounded discussion of the latest conspiracy theories involving the Mambo #5 (aka COVID-19) pandemic. Mike recounts a converation with a new source he calls “Mr. X” (he’s the one who actually says “plandemic”). Alex Jones makes a quick appearance to explain what lengths he’ll go to in order to feed his family. It’s pretty disgusting.

Producer Paul lands a historic interview with former Vice President, former U.S. Senator, and presumptive Democratic Party nominee for the 2020 Presidential race Joe Biden. We discuss the recent allegations of sexual assault that are dogging the former V.P., how he plans to win the presidency, and how he’s weathering the pandemic.

    Listener Mailbag

Mike has made it all the way back home from Harrisburg, PA, and he’s safely returned to the warm embrace of the Big G’s basement, aka the Wisecrackin’ Funhouse. After getting out and mixing with the protestors at the Open Pennsylvania protest last week, Mike is ready to continue his streak of public interaction. Victoria Herringbone fires up the computer, opens the virtual mailbag and shoots listener questions at Mike. Listening to Mike sing the jingle for this new segment alone is worth the effort of a download, if not two.

Then, Mike returns a call from a listener in New York State to find out how they are weathering the pandemic. Mike reviews his new favorite TV program, The Last Dance documentary on ESPN covering the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls. There are listener insults (yay!), compliments (yawn.) and even more questions.

    No More COVID Talk?
You know you don’t want to watch or listen to the actual, so-called news, right? It’s depressing. It’s doom and gloom. It’s just no fun. Instead, spend a little time in the Funhouse with Mike and guest co-host Victoria Herringbone. Instead of the news, they’ll talk about… all the things that are different now like teaching your kids at home, what people are buying and searching online… But they aren’t talking about the Mambo #5 outbreak (aka COVID-19), right? Well, mostly not. Somewhat not? Well, not the whole show at least.
There’s also a story about something happening to some person in some town somewhere. It’s a show. You’re bored. You’re running out of decent TV to watch. So, listen and find out what it is.

It’s Week 2 or 3 or whatever of your sorta being somewhat required to be at home all the time. Surely that means that you’re jonesing for a record length episode of Wisecrackin With Winter, right? The podcast’s favorite teenager Emma joins Mike in the Wisecrackin Funhouse for a discussion of Tiger King, Wu-Tang, and bat sandwiches. They run through the Billboard Top 10, Emma quizzes Mike with riddles, and, apparently, there’s a Friday the 13th vidya game.
Then, Mike calls up Producer Paul (that’s me) to grill him about every detail about how he is or isn’t in full compliance with Mike’s interpretation of the stay at home order. There are TV and movie reviews using Mike’s classic review scale. Since there aren’t many new releases out, we discuss a few older films (see the links to the trailers below on http://getwisecrackin.com ). And, of course, there’s a little discussion about our national pandemic response team.

America’s favorite American Barrister, Richie Barrister is back. Back from dancing to Mambo #5 in Mexico, to avoiding the Mambo #5 virus here in the States.  Mike pries as deeply into Richie’s personal life as possible. Listen to see how far that goes. Co-host Victoria Herringbone quizzes the fellas about some really common FAQs about the Mambo #5 virus.
They talk about a lot of other things. Trust me, it’s mostly funny. Do I have to describe it for you? Fine. Supply chain questions, feeding wildlife, Goodbye Kenny Rogers, etc.  Mike has sworn off political talk since “Ol Sleepy Joe” surged to a presumed commanding lead over “Crazy Bernie” in the delegate race, but yep, there’s a little political chat anyway.
