We've hit the penultimate episode of Season 1 of Schitt's Creek and we're so grateful you've joined us on this journey!

In this episode, Johnny is determined to surprise Moira for her birthday, and enlists the help of David, Alexis, and the townspeople to coordinate the festivities.

Alexis is none-too-pleased, as Moira's birthday is a disruption to her planned getaway to Chicago, with Ted; and David is met with a less-than-accommodating response from Stevie when he needs her help.  

In the end, the party comes together and the surprise remains in-tact… kind of.

Stevie and David are still trying to define boundaries with their friends with benefits situation, while Twyla attempts to write a song for Mutt to help improve their relationship. Jocelyn asks David to be a mentor to a 14 year old who is having trouble fitting in, only to discover that David is in no real position to give life advice of any type to anyone.

Jenn, Mike, and O'Neale discuss their own funeral plans as they navigate their way through Season 01, Episode 09: Carl'$ Funeral.

Tragedy strikes Schitt's Creek, when Bob's brother Carl passes away unexpectedly.  Roland and Jocelyn break the news to Moira and Johnny- with an invitation to participate in Carl's Funeral.  

Meanwhile, Carl's untimely passing draws some unsavory out-of-towners to the motel, as Ted and Alexis try their hand at parenting with some of Ted's patients.  

The funeral becomes an epic event, while David and Stevie grow closer as they try to clean up the mess from a rowdy party thrown by the visitors.

Moira receives a package from one of her old friends, Justine, believing that she is reaching out in support of everything Moira and the Roses have been through since their fall from grace. In reality, it is a starter kit for Justine's pyramid scheme door-to-door sales cosmetics company, Allez Vous.

Meanwhile, Johnny is trying to make his way to Elmdale, for a very important and confidential business meeting, and has a hell of a time trying to get to it. Alexis believes Ted is too much of a nice guy, and wants him to toughen up and be meaner - just not to her!

Oh hello! This week we dive into the episode that originally Jenn, Mike, and O'Neale all agreed was the one that turned them onto the show, Wine and Roses. While our opinions may have changed slightly as we rewatch the show, Wine and Roses still stands out as one of our favorite episodes of Schitt's Creek.

In this episode, Johnny is working to land a deal with a local winery, but it ends up being Moira's celebrity status that lands her a role as a spokesperson for some unforgettable fruit wine. David's anxiety starts to get the better of him, so he and Alexis attend Twyla's yoga class to get some relaxation- but when Alexis is paired up with Mutt, she's anything but relaxed. Moira faces a crisis on set and looks to Johnny for moral support.
