The maelstrom of rumours, fake news and actual news continues to gather pace both here in Australia and across the globe. In the past 24 hours alone, a supposed bat-spreading pandemic threat has been identified, Benjamin Netanyahu is set to land in Washington DC any minute now, the stories about Joe Biden’s successor continue to evolve and a number of horrific incidents have allegedly occurred involving Australian victims overnight in Paris just over 48 hours out from the Olympics.

If you’re empathetic to the plight of those suffering and you’re awake and watching the dots form and connect each day, it can be incredibly exhausting to both digest and discern all of the above; but Deception and Chaos are Satan’s happy places. They’re his playgrounds in which his manipulates both the participants and the observers. So for those of us who like to keep ahead of the curve, while looking up with the blessed expectation of Jesus Christ’s soon return, we can often find ourselves in a state of push-and-pull or fight-and-flight. And that’s exactly where Satan wants us.

So where does that leave us?

It must be a day ending in ‘y’ because the rollercoaster that this world is on seems to have transitioned to a ride on the Mad Mouse – do you remember that ride? It was a favourite of mine at the Royal Melbourne show back in the day…

So, President Biden has dropped out of the Presidential Race, he has endorsed Kamala Harris who, it seems has now been UNBIDENED by what has been, but at the time of recording, Former President Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi have not endorsed Harris. And there are plenty of rumours that Hillary Clinton may make a comeback. Oh, and apparently the 2024 Olympics start in three days…

But back to the November 2024 election in the States. Now more than ever, we crave strong leadership. But what does it mean to be a good leader and most importantly, a godly leader? We'll cover this and more on today's show.

In John Chapter 17, verse 16 Jesus lifted up His eyes to Heaven and said, “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”

As Christians, we know that while we’re not of the world, we do need to dwell in this world until the Lord carries us home. So how can we live a wise and practical analogue life in a digital world that can easily be manipulated for Satan’s purposes?

Three things spring to mind:

· If you haven’t already done so, grab a paper-based Holy Bible, rather than a digital version. The digital versions are far too easy to manipulate; a word or two tweaked here / an entire chapter removed there.

· Secondly, if you have a Bible-believing church near you, and health permitting, it’s so much better to fellowship with other Christians in person. And that’s coming from someone who veers ever so slightly towards being an introvert!

· And thirdly, keep some cash handy. You never know when you’ll need it next and you never know who’s tracking your data and whereabouts whenever you buy with card or digital wallet.

So much has transpired in the past 24 hours and I can only imagine what else will take place between now and the next Withstand Podcast. The fallout from the global Microsoft outage – the largest in human history – continues, Biden is set to step down as early as this weekend (and perhaps already has, as we go to air). There’s been rioting in London and closer to home, it seems that every other night there are teenagers running riot across metropolitan suburbs and fires being lit at small business premises and people’s homes.

What is going on?! It’s so hard to keep up with chaos. It’s so hard to make sense of the fact that superficially, our world appears to have no Plan B; no succession plan for when man-made plans fail. From American Politics to IT Infrastructure, how is it possible that we don’t install measures that allow us to keep one, two, even three steps ahead of the curve? Is this chaos due to inherent laziness or ineptitude from mankind or are these a series in a long list of distractions from the grand plan, that continues to operate in the background by Satan and his useful idiots - that may succeed in the short-term but will ultimately fail in the long run, thanks to our Heavenly Father.

We believe that there are three powerful weapons to help withstand evil during ongoing spiritual warfare:

Firstly - spending time with God, our Heavenly Father and Creator of all that is seen and unseen, Secondly - dwelling in the pages of the Holy Bible which contains the carefully preserved Word of our Heavenly Father and

Thirdly - praying more earnestly and urgently than we’ve ever prayed before; for our loved ones, for lost souls, for our nations, you name it.

This triune of battle armour and weaponry will become even more important as Satan seeks to control all he can in the limited time he has left.

Today, we'll spend time in prayer, in the Book of Psalms (Chapter One) and the Gospel of Luke (Chapter One).
