We spend the rest of our show with labor organizer from pride at work in Eastern MA, Kayleigh O’Keefe to discuss the intense police repression on the ground at the straight pride parade in Boston. Kayleigh details the extend of the violence done to counter protesters and the current legal battle that has ensued following the arrest of 36 counter protesters, many of whom are LGBTQ, street medics, and from the press.

The blackout Monday in Brazil has reached critical level. The fires have lead to almost half of Brazil being covered in a thick black smog. The fires in Brazil’s rainforest have reached a height that is unprecedented with Brazil’s space research center INPE recording 72,843 fires in the Amazon this year alone, marking an 83% increase over the same period of 2018 and it is the highest since records began in 2013. Truly, this is a climate emergency. Joining the show With Kim Barzola an environmental activist focused on Latin American environmental and peasant movement from the Party for Socialism and Liberation.At least 27 people have been arrested over threats to commit mass terrorists’ attacks since the shootings in El Paso and Dayton Ohio claimed the lives of 31 people in a weekend. Right wing violence is on the rise, while simultaneously a resolution introduced this week by Senators Ted Cruz and Bill Cassidy called for the Antifa anti-fascist movement to be designated a domestic terrorist organization. We discuss the impacts of right wing violence in el Paso. Joining the show is Adri Perez, a native el pasoan and community organizer. The mainstream media has been abuzz with discussions on LGBTQ rights in Palestine and increasing attempts to delegitimize representative Ilhan Omar. In studio is Sapphira Lurie, a jewish LGBTQ organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation and one of the lead organizers in the recent groundbreaking lawsuit against Fordham University in the fight for a chapter for Students for Justice in Palestine. Since July, Puerto Rico has been undergoing a people’s movement that forced out former disgraced governor Ricardo Rossello after leaked text messages revealed not only sexist derogatory language, but also transcripts of high level officials mocking the victims of Hurricane Maria. Thousands of Puerto Ricans have been continuously in the streets demanding change. Puerto Rico’s Justice Secretary Wanda Vazquez was sworn in last Wednesday afternoon. Rosello’s handpicked appointment Pedro Pierluisi, a private sector lawyer surrounded by scandal, was declared unconstitutional by The Puerto Rican Supreme Court. Joining the show is Norma Perez, an organizer with A Call to Action On Puerto Rico.Accused sex trafficker, pedophile, and friend of president Trump Jeffrey Epstein apparently committed suicide in prison last week while under suicide watch. Investigators say that only one of the three people who was supposed to be guarding Jeffrey Epstein was an actual prison guard, and none of the three checked on him every thirty minutes, as called for by Bureau of Prisons policy. Law enforcement officials say that Epstein was apparently dead for hours before he was found. Joining the show is Jodi Dean, professor of political Science at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva NY.Just last week The Trump administration imposed a total economic embargo against the government of Venezuela after the failed coup attempts of right-wing opposition lead Juan Guido. Despite tehcincal issues, discussing the embargo is a Venezuela solidarity activist Emile Rose.

We discuss some of the holes and inconsistencies in Mueller's report, including why he chose not to interview Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks.For our second segment, we discuss the recent protests in Puerto Rico. This Monday July 22nd, hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans flooded the streets in San Juan demanding the resignation of governor Ricardo Rosselló. After the Center for Investigative Journalism unearthed homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic chats with other government officials, Rosselló refused to step down. We speak with Frederick Cortez, an organizer for the Communist Party of Puerto Rico, and Norma Perez, an organizer with the Call to Action on Puerto Rico, about the current fight for liberation.

This Friday, across the country there are mass mobilizations in almost every city called by the coalition Lights for Liberty -a grassroots effort made up of many different organizations in response to the growing action against the horrific conditions in the detention centers across the country. We’ve seen in the past few weeks an increase in protests against the camps across the country. Joining the show is Jacqueline Arellano, water drop director for Border Angels and Alexia Isais, a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation in Phoenix.Next we will cover the recent rape case in New Jersey - where a 16 year old teenage boy raped an intoxicated girl, filmed it - and then sent the video to his friends. The prosecutor attempted to try him as an adult, But a state Superior Court judge shot down that request in part because, the judge said, the boy "comes from a good family" and is destined "for a good college." Joining the show is Anamaria Meneses, a women’s rights activist based in New York City and organizer of the Brett Kavanaugh protests in 2018. Their win was followed by chants of “equal pay” in the stadium in France. The U.S. women’s soccer team had filed a lawsuit earlier this year against the U.S. Soccer Federation in their fight for equal pay. Next we delve in to the case of Marshae Jones, a 28 year old black woman who was indicted in Alabama last week for manslaughter for being shot in the stomach when she was 5 months pregnant. Marshae got into a fight with another woman who pulled out a gun and fired a warning shot and then shot Marshae in the stomach. Jones survived, but her fetus did not. Just today we found out that under immense national pressure the prosecutor dropped the charges this morning, but this attempt to declare “personhood” for the fetus remains a significant struggle. Joining us will be Lynn Paltrow the executive director and founder of national advocates for pregnant women.The program wraps up with a discussion on the Trump administration's most recent attack on immigrants and the state of the detention center on the border. Recently, congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez tweeted that the detention centers on the border can be described as concentration camps, and received significant backlash. Joining the show is Alessandra Mondolfi an immigrant rights activist with the group Witness Homestead that has been outside of the Homestead detention center in Florida for the past 143 days.
