Episode 97: Women In Ministry - Exposing The Inconsistency

This is the episode where we really dive down into the nitty-gritty of the hot-button bible verses which are always the ones most strongly used to deny that women can serve in places of authority in the Church. 1 Timothy 2:11-12, when taken alone from the rest of the bible, would certainly seem to prohibit women from preaching, teaching and leading in the Kingdom. But that is the issue: we cannot take these verses alone, divorcing them from the rest of Scripture. This podcast will accomplish two things:

 

1. To empower those who have been intimidated and/or confused 1 Timothy 2:11-12 to begin to better understand them (more will be said on these verses in our next episode).

 

1. To expose the flagrant inconsistency of those who interpret 1 Timothy 2:11-12 with an unquestioned strictness while, at the same time, failing to apply that same interpretive lens to many other places in 1 Timothy and other parts of the New Testament. You will have to explain yourselves.

 

Listen carefully, take notes if you can, and let’s begin to take a deep look at the two verses that are used as the presumably solid foundation to forbid women from teaching, preaching and leading in God’s Kingdom.
