Tamara is a divorced, hardworking single mother, with a non-supportive ex-spouse, of two beautiful girls, who was always finding and looking for ways to make ends meet. She loves singing and salsa dancing and has now acquired a passion for travel.

Always having an open mind for new opportunities, Tamara realized that so many women need help with finances just to stay adrift in life. Her goal is to help women with their financial dreams.

Ms. Bianca Wright. A mentor and a close friend to Tamara for almost three decades. She has experienced loss and had to rethink her life when the family business, marriage, and the house she designed all disappeared in divorce. 

With four beautiful kids, she had to rethink her direction.

Nicole has a business and massage therapy diploma and recently became a licensed insurance agent. She has owned several businesses, including a cleaning company, personal training studio, and CrossFit gym, and currently runs a mobile massage therapy business in and around Edmonton, Alberta. 

She is a two-time figure pro card winner, CrossFit games regional team qualifier, and multiple 5k sprint winner. She enjoys time with her husband and children. She enjoys health and the outdoors, mountain hikes, and river walks.

Nicole hopes to help and inspire men, women, and children with her story and is passionate about helping people and fighting for love, justice, forgiveness, and all that God is. She has a strong will and faith and believes in never giving up on the people she loves.

KAY BOHEMIER

ESCAPING A CONVICTED KILLER

ONE SURVIVOR’S HARROWING TALE

 Kay Bohemier, was born and raised in Manitoba, Canada. She is a proud mother to four awesome kids. She has been very blessed in her life, both personally and professionally, and thanks God for every new day given to her.

Kay tackled University in her 30s and graduated in the field of Local Government. She moved on after mastering that role and got my commercial license. Kay has thoroughly enjoyed the challenges in her new field.

Kay is a huge advocate for domestic violence and has spent time volunteering for a domestic violence program, helping others navigate through the system to obtain help and make safety plans. 

Her goal is to start a non-profit organization and build transitional communities for survivors of domestic violence—homes where survivors and their children don’t have to worry about a 90-day stay. Kay says she will continue to fight for changes in domestic laws and seek accountability for those in power.

 Kay wants to help others find their voice; together, we CAN AND WILL make a difference.

I’m Lisa Huppee. I’m the owner of six Just Like Family Home Care franchise locations throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. The journey to get here has been challenging, but I believe resilience is the key to accomplishing great things. 

 Just Like Family Home Care has provided me with opportunities to connect people of all ages and backgrounds to the in-home care they need, I have always been compassionate, and finding work that connects me to this side of myself has completely changed my life.

 My recent accomplishments, receiving local community awards for our services, have reminded me that finding a deeper connection to our work can make a world of difference. At Just Like Family Home Care, we offer in-home assessments to match clients to a staff member that fits their individual needs.

 Finding the right fit for each client is vital, as personalized care and support are what sets our business apart from other home care providers. Helping families balance their commitments and family life inspires me to keep building this business.

 My past work life as a teacher helped me to recognize the importance of personalized care when preparing student IEPs. Just as each student has unique challenges, each individual needing home care has a personalized care plan to help them and their families plan for success.

 My early life wasn't easy, and looking back, I don't think I could have ever expected to be where I am today. I grew up on the prairies in a small town in Alberta. I was shy, reserved, and self-conscious. But I was dedicated to my school work and committed to figure skating. 

This is where I learned the value of hard work and determination and that nothing comes easy in life. Self-reflection daily, weekly, and yearly helps me see if I am challenged and doing good in the world. Making myself accountable to me keeps me on track as a person and in my belief and goals.

 Fast forward to today, I am living a very different life. I am a business owner. I have time for my hobbies, painting acrylics and watercolors, meditating, and expanding my spiritual interests. I have the freedom to travel when I want to, a supportive and loving husband of nearly ten years, and the puppy pack I have always dreamed of.

 Today, I'm living the life I have always desired, in the mountains, but near civilization, with the people and pups I love. I know that life changes can feel unattainable, but I'm writing my chapter to share that it can happen once you put your mind to accomplishing things!
