This week we are excited to welcome Sarah Biehl to the podcast. Just a few weeks ago, Sarah reset the course record at the 60th edition of the JFK 50 miler, running 6:05:42. The record was previously held by Ellie Greenwood. Sarah took just over 6 minutes off of Ellie's time.

Sandi Nypaver is not only a prolific trail/ultra athlete but one of the loveliest and kindest people in the sport. In this episode, we dive deep into Sandi's history as an athlete and how she got into the sport of running. We also discuss the state of the sport, how athletes can work together to increase professionalism in the sport and other major topics in the space.

Heather Jackson is one of the best American Ironman athletes on the scene as well as a fan favorite. She has won numerous 70.3 and Ironman distance races over her 15 year career. She has place as high as 3rd in Kona at the Ironman World Championships.

This year, Heather has dabbled in gravel bike racing as she looks to transition more towards gravel riding and ultrarunning.  She recently ran her very first ultra of any distance at the Javelina 100 mile. She ran an great race and finished 5th in one of the most competitive ultra races this season. 

In this episode, we dive deep into her decision to race Javelina just a few weeks after completing Kona and one week after racing Big Sugar gravel race. We talk about her approach, how it went and what she learned along the way. We are very excited to welcome Heather to the sport and know she has great things ahead of her.

On this week's episode of Women of Distance we sit down with Amy Sproston. We discuss what it's like to run all over the world, shifting priorities with running and racing, and how to stay motivated over decades of running.

Ellie Greenwood is one of the best ultra runners of all time in a wide ranging career that span the trails and roads. Ellie is still the course record holder at WS 100 and has won the Comrades marathon as well as two World Championships in the 100k. Was fun to chat with Ellie about some of those performances, the state of the sport, injury and much more!

On this episode, we are joined by Ultra legend Pam Smith. We had a great time discussing longevity in the sport, how she’s adjusted her goals through the years, and how she’s coping with the ongoing process of aging gracefully.  From winning Western States to competing for Team USA on the 100k and 24hr teams, Pam has had an amazing career and has a lot of good perspective on the changing nature of the sport over the years. Today we’re talking to Katie Schide, fresh off her recent win at Val D’Aran in the Pyranees. An American pro runner for The North Face and skier living in France, we discuss the differences in being a pro in different countries, her background that ultimately led her overseas, and what she’s most looking forward to this year.

This week we are joined by the long distance phenom and Hoka runner Annie Hughes. In her 24 years she’s already made a name for herself by winning the last four races she’s run, including Leadville 100 and most recently, Cocodona 250! We talk about her entry to the sport and what she’s most looking forward to.
