Today we welcome Ashley Wiles, a 3 x ironman triathlete who went on to become a Tedx Speaker, a Life Coach,  a Mental Performance Coach, Youth Speaker and Activist for mental health, and the founder of Sole Girls—a program dedicated to empowering girls aged 8 to 12 through running, mentorship, and mental wellness education. 

Ashley’s won so many awards for her work over the years, including being named as one of Canadas top 5 motivators by Impact magazine.  She shares with us the many benefits of her latest program, Inner Game, and how mental coaching helps not only young athletes with their performance both on and off of sports platforms, but also all of us who are parents and mentors to young girls.

Women are not “just tired.” What I’m hearing out there is that many of us are living in a constant state of low-key (or high-key) fight-or-flight. Between our day to day pressures, unprocessed trauma, the pressure to perform or please, not to mentioned unprocessed anxiety from COVID and the current world events, we’re finding that our nervous systems are on red alert far more than they were designed to be. And the thing is? We often don’t even realize it. And sadly this just becomes our new normal.

This episode is all about what happens to our nervous systems when we’re in the shit, how it shows up in sneaky little ways, and most importantly—how we can regulate ourselves and find little nuggets of peace right in the middle of it.

Today, I’m introducing you to someone I just met, but who already left a big impression on me. Her name is Urmi Hossain, and her story is such a powerful example of turning challenge into purpose. Urmi was born and raised in Italy to Bangladeshi immigrant parents, and she grew up navigating what’s called the “third culture kid” experience. In this episode, Urmi shares what that experience was like for her as a young girl and how it pushed her to really ask: Who am I, and who do I want to become?  She’s turned that journey into a book, and even more than that—into a mission. She’s now a mentor, a leader, and an advocate for women everywhere trying to find their voice and their power.
