September 01, 2020Mum's the Word: S1E4 - Preparing for MotherhoodThis week on Mum's the Word, hosts Sarah Newberry Moore and Pam Relph Jones dive a little deeper into their own journey through sport and into future motherhood. The need for a good support system, from spouse to grandparents, to even your team mates, is a point that’s come up with previous guests, and it’s giving host Sarah a lot to think about and plan for when she hopefully embarks on her journey into motherhood. Sarah wants to have a child and continue her sailing career; in her words: 'have it all' and is striving to ensure her support system is in place for when she and her husband start their family. Hearing advice from Pam, other guests on previous episodes, it is clear that a lot of planning needs to happen to ensure smooth sailing. The hosts will be sharing stories that will inspire other active mothers or future mothers, a narrative that was missing for Pam when she started trying to have a baby. This show will share those stories from around the sports world. We also start a new feature in this week’s podcast that will have listeners (especially aspiring mothers) captivated is mother’s Birth stories. Pam kicks off this series by sharing her experiences and emotions of the day when her son Harrison joined the family, under the care of a midwife at home in Virginia. Hopefully this episode will inspire you to start planning your family support system. Kirstin also includes some tips that you can apply this week and she discusses some of the popular supplements that are out there today. What's worth it and what might be something you want to leave behind?
