Kaitlin's first guest on this new swimming podcast is Cyndi Gallagher who has been head coach for UCLA Women's Swimming and Diving team for 31 years of the 38 years consisting of head coach, assistant coach and student-athlete. A graduate of UCLA, Cyndi had an impressive career in the water before becoming one of the few coaches in the nation who coached at their alma mater. She set several school records, earned All-American honors and recognized as the university's "Most Valuable Athlete”; not to mention a USA National team member as well. She competed at the Olympic Trials in 1976 and 1980 and was a bronze medalist in the 800-meter Freestyle at the 1979 World University Games in Mexico City. As a coach at UCLA, Cyndi produced 11 Olympians, 21 Pac-10/12 Champions, and 91 All-Americans. Gallagher was one of only three female head coaches of Division I top-25 schools nationwide. Cyndi is currently the head coach for DC Trident, 1 of 10 teams in the International Swim League, the first professional swim league.

Today we welcome Mel Jones to the podcast. A previous member of the Australian Women’s Cricket Team, Mel has played on the winning side of two World Cups and two Ashes series, and also played 61 One Day Internationals. She also played domestically in teams both in England and Australia before her retirement. Since then, Mel has worked as a successful talent manager and has become a dominant voice in cricket commentating. Through this, she’s cemented herself as an advocate for women in sport, particularly in the development of careers in sport both on and off the pitch. Last year was a big one for Mel; she received the highly prestigious Order of Australia for services towards cricket and the community, and late last year joined Cricket Australia on the Board of Directors.

We continue our series of Equestrian Legends this week with another interview that was first recorded in 2012. New Zealander Jennifer Millar has devoted her life to officiating in equestrian sport from Team Trainer to Chef de Equipe, course designer, steward and technical delegate for numerous events around the world. Jennifer served as President, Vice President and Chairman on the Equestrian Sport New Zealand National Board and on the FEI Eventing Committee, Jennifer was awarded Companion of the NZ Order of Merit and also recognized by the International Olympic Committee for her contribution to the development of Sport.

As we continue to observe social distancing athletes are having a tough time maintaining much of their training routine while events are cancelled and there is no timeframe to restart competitions for most of them. We’ve been finding out from some of our WiSP Ambassadors how they are adjusting their fitness routines or improvising training. Irish Motor Racing Driver Nicole Drought has been switching her fast wheels for slower ones as a way of maintaining some fitness and is using a simulator to learn a new car that she is yet to drive this season.

On their second episode Ella and Georgina's guest is Carol Fox who is currently the President of Women Sport Australia. Carol also runs her own executive coaching business, and is a regular speaker at conferences and forums for women in leadership. She was Victoria’s first professional female surf life saver, a state level swimmer and water polo player. Carol was a baton bearer for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She was also featured in the Australian Financial Review 100 Women of Influence in the worlds of Business and Sport. We hear about Carol's struggles facing sexism in the surf life saving world, her passion for women in leadership, and predictions for the future of female coaches and leaders.
