She represented Great Britain on several winning Nations Cup teams, was selected for the 1956 Stockholm Olympics where she met here husband Warren Wofford and the 1960 Rome Olympics. She won the silver medal at the 1960 Ladies European Championship, the Aachen Puissance and the Queen Elizabeth Cup in 1955 and ’56 as well as numerous other national prizes.This interview was first recorded in 2012. Growing up against the background of WWII she soon took to the hunting field with the Rose Tree Hunt Club and Radnor Hunt and then enjoyed competing in both hunters and jumpers.With the early influences of Bill Steinkraus and Bert de Nemethy she found success in the international arena before switching to three day eventing by way of hunter trials. For the past 40 years Betty Ann has concentrated on dressage and credits Germany’s Fritz Stecken and Paul Keck for instilling in her the principles of classical dressage.
