HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS & DISCUSSION QUESTIONS…
Homework Assignment # 1: Ephesians 5:32-33
Wife asks husband: In what ways do you feel most respected? In what ways do you feel most disrespected? What can I do to make you feel respected?
Husband asks wife: What do I do that makes it difficult for you to respect me? What do I do that makes me seem more like a boy than a man?
Homework Assignment #2: Proverbs 31:11-23
Wife asks husband: In what ways do you feel like you can – and can’t – trust me?
Wife asks husband: Do you feel like I protect your reputation?
Family (including children) discuss together: How do we talk about each other to others? Do we say anything that makes anyone in our family look bad?
Homework Assignment #3: 2 Samuel 6:16-23
Wife asks husband: Do I ever talk to you like Michal talked to David? Am I demeaning or belittling in my tone?
Husband asks wife: Do you ever feel like I’m deliberately neglecting you like David neglected Michal? Do you feel like I’m distancing myself from you to be mean to you?
Possible suggestions:
There is no correct length of time.
Choose the same time each week to establish a routine; after dinner can work very well since everyone is seated at the table.
Make sure the television and/or cell phones are off and do not answer the house phone.
The father/husband should open in prayer.
Involve children by having them read verses.
Close by asking if there are any prayer requests. Then have the mother open in prayer, invite the children to pray if they feel led (don’t want prayer to become something children have a negative attitude toward, which can happen if they’re forced to pray), and father closes in prayer.
