Generally speaking things that have been proven have patterns to them. We consider a few of those proven patterns.

This is about being willing to sacrifice. Life is filled with trade-offs. A surrender of something for the sake of something else. Sometimes we think we are ready and willing only to find out we aren't so willing.

The Greeks had a race in which the winner wasn't the person who finished first. It was the one who finished with their torch still lit. Run to obtain, fight to hit the mark.

Without counsel purposes are disappointed, but in the multitude of counselors they are established. Prov 15:22

Often we "soften" what God has made known to us. So like Samuel was to Saul, Jesus was to Peter and Paul was to Peter, wise counsel will challenge the things we have gone soft in and bring us back to the heart of the issues.

The Apostle Paul was hindered by Satan and he was forbidden to go into Asia Minor by the Holy Spirit. How can one determine when to yield and when to resist? The peace of God is to rule in our hearts.

We finish the series on yielding. We can learn to participate with what God is wanting to work in our life.

In Romans 7 & 8 Paul addresses the condition when things in us are not dealt with. "..... not all of me joins in that delight. Parts of me covertly rebel, and just when I least expect it, they take charge."

In this series we see some ways we can move from the sidelines of watching to the field of doing. Leaning how to yield is vital if one desires to be a doer.

Like Jacob we often strive to get ahead. Jacob had all sorts of trouble without until he spent the night wrestling with the Lord and allowed the Lord to bless him. And God did bless him and change his name. We too need those moments with the Lord in which we allow God to change what is working in us.

In Matt. 13 we see the importance of seeking what is valuable. The blessing that our brother walks in might encourage our heart but it doesn't change our life. It is when we walk in the blessing that our life is affected. Don't just spectate, participate.
