Word of Life Family Church

In this message we study the three power gifts. Faith (the gift given as a manifestation of the Holy Spirit, not the creed, nor faith that comes by hearing the Word.) Gifts of Healings and Working of Miracles.

In this message we look at New Testament examples of the three gifts of the Spirit that reveal things. Word of Knowledge, Word of Wisdom and Decernment of spirits.

Like the disciples of Jesus, we too will have times in which we don't understand what God is trying to get to us. In the gospel of John many of Jesus's disciples left him and followed him no more. Participating in being teachable and humble before the Lord is key to receiving.

Psalms tells us that if God isn't building what we are building our efforts are in vain even if the goal is reached. Do we value eternal life and what it is about or are we focused on temporal things that come and go without real effect?

In this series we are studying the nine gifts of he Spirit as taught by the Apostle Paul. For the sake of study we divide them into the three that say something, three that reveal something and three that do something.

Most people left Jesus and walked with him nor more because they didn't like or understand what he was teaching. Even his disciples were asked if they would leave but they didn't. It is important to actively stay with the Lord even when we don't understand.

As recorded in the gospel of John, when Jesus knew his hour of leaving this earth was approaching he began to emphasis the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He repeatedly called Him the Spirit of Truth and He taught what the Holy Spirit would do when He comes. (Came at Pentecost) He will Guide, Show, Teach and Remind. This revealing side of ministry is as much a move of the Holy Spirit as the miracle side of His ministry.

Hebrews 12:1 speaks of a great cloud of witnesses. In chapter 11 many specific individuals who were faithful and full of faith.

In studying the topic of baptism with the Holy Spirit it is important to differentiate between prayer (communicating with God) and the ministry gift (communicating with man). Often we struggle with things we don't understand and the bible says when we pray in tongues our understanding is unfruitful, but that does not mean that prayer is unproductive.

There are times in life we find ourselves in grief, dismay, being overwhelmed or sidetracked. What to do? There are things we can do to receive from God and get back on track.
