Once when I was in the 8th grade, there was a kid in our room who had a severe hearing problem. To compensate for it, he wore hearing aides in both ears. These devices were cumbersome by today's standards. They were very large and had big volume controls on them whereby he could adjust the sound up or down. Several of my friends and I decided to play a trick on him. We pretended to be talking, moving our lips, but not making any sound. He moved his head forward trying to hear what we were saying and began turning the volume all of the way up on his hearing aides. I read with interest where President Trump intervened and got three UCLA basketball players, freshmen LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley released from China. The trio had allegedly stolen numerous items including designer sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store next to the team's hotel in Hangzhou. Anonymous sources reported that surveillance footage shows them shoplifting from three stores in the high-end mall. As most of you know I'm heavily involved with stopping child rape and hate the thought of it. Naturally the charges leveled at Judge Roy Moore concerned me, but then I calmly considered the facts, namely that this series of incidents allegedly occurred 40 years ago, the charges are being leveled by an interpreter for Hillary Clinton's campaign, and are being presented by ultra-liberal haters at the Washington Post. There is a petition going around that urges folks to boycott the NFL this coming Veterans Day weekend. It seems fitting to me that we should not support an organization that disparages our country and those who bravely fought for it and have kept us free from the Hitlers, Stalins, and Hirohitos of the world.
