As was my custom I walked outside with my little dog Cooper very early one morning and sat on my front steps as he explored my front yard and sniffed every blade of grass and leaf in the process. She sent me news articles about a rock in Mexico (or somewhere) that supposedly had developed an image of Jesus on it. Well, I turned the corner on COVID and the coughing has mostly abated. Aside from feeling exhausted, I’m good to go. My daughter-in-law had the exact same thing, and she wrote yesterday and said she was miserable and “pretty sure she was dying”. My wife and I are still suffering from COVID. It’s a nasty sickness and I pray that it is somehow eradicated like so many other diseases. We had all three Moderna shots and got it anyway – Go figure. Thanks for the well wishes and especially the prayers. The good news is each day seems a little better than the prior. No dramatic improvements but steadily gaining inch by inch – day by day. We don’t have the energy to do much to our new home. We’ve slept four days straight now and have just done the essentials. Today I close on my farm and begin the move-in process. It’s hotter than blazes here and I don’t think I will be working outside at all. Better to pace myself and make it to the finish line like the old turtle that is exceedingly slow but makes steady progress. The turtle’s strategy is to never stop but move at a comfortable pace. It does not run full tilt through the race. Well, I got another contract on my house in the Keys and the closing is set for August 5th. It’s good timing because we are closing on our farm this Friday and I don’t want or need two houses. Many of my friends have worried themselves silly about the previous buyers backing out at the last minute, but I just took it in stride. If it falls through again at the last minute, I will do the same.
