Work Ethic & Working Unto The Lord

On today's show, we are talking about work ethic. The benefit of work is a theme seen throughout the Bible.

  • “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24

    • — God cares about our work ethic. He commands us to work hard in whatever we do. We do not work for the man but for God.

    — The Lord created us to work, you can see this as early as Adam and Eve.

    • Genesis 2:15 “ “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”

      • — Throughout the Bible God gives instructions on how to work.

      • “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” Proverbs 14:23

        • — Work is important, it is not our identity but working for the Lord will bring joy in the most mundane activities.

        — Rest is also important, this was seen when God created the heavens and earth. He rested on the seventh day.

        • “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it, you shall not do any work” Exodus 20:9-10a
        • Psalm 19 says that God reveals Himself to the world through His work.
        • “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
