Professor Austin Stack is encouraging people to learn more about their kidney health as today marks World Kidney Day.
Chronic kidney disease affects around one in ten adults in Ireland and is often described as a “silent condition,” with many people unaware they have it in the early stages. Health experts say early testing and awareness of the risk factors can make a huge difference.
Professor Stack, a kidney specialist with UL Hospitals Group, joined Alan Morrissey on Morning Focus to talk about why kidney health is so important and what people can do to protect it.
Alan also spoke to Sharon Fitzgerald, a kidney transplant recipient from Newmarket on Fergus, who is on the board of the Irish Kidney Association.
