  • Mysteries of God | Piano Instrumental Interlude [Episode 153, May 21, 2019]

“Mysteries of God” – A Piano Instrumental Interlude by Fred McKinnon

I began this interlude this morning with no preparation or thought. I finished my morning devotional and, to be honest, was in a bit of a hurry. I sat down and played this opening motif and felt inspired. After a couple of ideas I hit record and this beautiful piece came flowing forth. As I played I kept pondering on the vast mysteries and greatness of God Almighty.

After completing this improvised solo I began to search for the images to make the official video below. While doing this I found the Scripture reference that I was already thinking of:

Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens above—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below—what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the seaJob 11:7-9

  • Never Give Up | Piano Instrumental [Episode 152, May 19, 2019]

“Never Give Up” – Encouraging the Hopeless, Weary, and Anxious Souls

Episode #152 of the Worship Interludes Podcast is called “Never Give Up”. As I recorded this piece, I was especially thinking about all of those people who just want to give up. You feel defeated and hopeless. You are weary, anxious, and can’t seem to find peace.

I’ve battled all of these emotions for over a year now. They are real. They are painful. Yet, I know deep in my heart that God is good, and He is the source of peace.

As you listen, my prayer is that God’s peace will flood your soul and that you will have eyes to see His goodness.

  • Stay the Course | Piano Instrumental Music [Episode 151, May 14, 2019]

“Stay the Course” – Solo Piano Instrumental Music for Prayer, Meditation, Soaking Worship, Relaxation, Studying, Focus

With every passing day we have to deal with the distractions of life. These distractions can easily pull us away from the purpose that we have in this life. A few minutes can turn into hours, which turns into days, which turns into weeks, months, and years. Before we know it, we’ve lost focus, we’ve lost purpose, and we’re off track.

I believe that every person on this planet has a God-given purpose. There is a destiny for each one of us. I also believe that we ultimately have to make a choice in whether or not we will carry out that purpose. Rest assured, there will be situations and opportunities that will detour us from that path.

In this piece “Stay the Course”, my hope is that you will take some time to quietly ponder the purpose for your life. Do you know what that is? Do you feel that you’ve lost your way? Spending a few minutes daily in prayer is a great way to rediscover that path. Listen for that small voice that whispers to you, “this is the way… walk in it”.

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.Isaiah 30:21, NKJV

  • Strength for the Soul | Piano Instrumental [Episode 150, May 8, 2019]

“Strength for the Soul” – Piano Instrumental Music Soundtrack for Prayer, Meditation, Relaxation, Studying, and Soaking

Today’s interlude was inspired by Psalm 119: 28. I was reading in my daily devotion and came across this passage which reads:

My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word.Psalm 119:28

I found this to be a beautiful passage that helps us deal with our souls. You’ve probably heard people say they are “soul sick”. So many things that people face are sicknesses of the soul, such as depression, anxiety, worry, rejection … and so many others.

There is no lack of hurt and pain in this world that we live in. It’s no doubt that from time to time, we need healing and strength in our souls. This passage reminds us that through the promises of God’s Word, we can receive that strength.

For me, a daily devotion that keeps me in God’s Word is life. It keeps this powerful force ever-present in my mind.

As I played today I was thinking of various things that weight on my own soul. I was thinking about you, and all of the things that the thousands of listeners of this podcast experience – things that make your soul sick.

I hope that the time you spend listening to this interlude will be refreshing.

    With love and peace,Fred McKinnon

  • Deep Breaths | Piano Instrumental Interlude [Episode 148, April 30, 2019]

“Deep Breaths” – Piano Instrumental Music for Prayer, Meditation, Soaking, and Relaxation

Today’s piano instrumental interlude is called “Deep Breaths”. Taking time to slow down, breathe, and clear your mind is so vitally important in our hurried culture.

Last week was a busy week for me so I decided to do my very best to start this week with intention. Intention to focus on the big things that matter to me. I set some goals such as getting two worship interludes podcast episodes completed, working out with my local mens’ workout group three times, and staying committed to my morning routine of prayer and Bible reading.

This morning I enjoyed a great workout with my brothers from F3 and stopped at one of my favorite little spots on Saint Simons Island for some quiet time and Bible reading. The picture you see is from that spot which is called Village Creek Landing.

This piano improvisation is just about eight minutes long. It’s just enough time to slow yourself down, pray, meditate, and focus your mind on the day ahead. I hope it’s a blessing to you.

  • Soaking in the Light | Piano Instrumental Music [Episode 147, April 23, 2019]

“Soaking In the Light” – Solo Piano Music for Prayer, Meditation, Soaking Worship, Relaxation, and Studying

Episode #147 of the Worship Interludes Podcast

This morning’s interlude started out with me powering up my home studio and recording software. I reached over with my right hand and plucked a note a few times to make sure everything was working and that the signal was being recorded. That note was an Eb. Having struck the note a few times in a row, I liked the feel of that. So, I hit the big “RECORD” button and started. The rest of the piece came out as an improvisation that explores several keys and variations on the repeated note.

Some mornings I have my prayer time and then I record. This morning, I recorded immediately after reading my daily devotional. I then used the playback to have my prayer time. As I listened to myself and sat quietly, I started thinking about how it feels when you are out on the beach and you feel the sun basking down on you. I began to allow myself to relax as I imagined the early morning breeze and the warmth of the sun on my face.

There’s a part of me that thinks to myself, “well that isn’t very spiritual”. Then again, it can be VERY spiritual. It all depends on your perspective.

This podcast was ultimately created to help people worship, pray, and slow themselves down to be able to listen. Listen to God. Listen to themselves. Listen to the inner voice. One of the benefits that come from creating this is the ability it gives people to simply unwind, relax, and enjoy.

For whatever purpose you listen, I am grateful. I sincerely hope you enjoy the music today.

    God bless you,Fred

  • The Darkest Time | Good Friday to Easter Sunday [Episode 146, April 20, 2019]

“The Darkest Time” – A Piano Instrumental for Good Friday and Easter Sunday

I recorded this solo piano improvisation on Saturday morning, April 20, 2019. This is the “in-between” dark time during the traditional Holy Week. Yesterday was Good Friday and Christians remember that as being when Jesus was crucified. Today is the second day, Saturday. Jesus’ body is in the tomb. The disciples are stunned. It’s the darkest time in history. Everything they’d hoped for vanished.

Did anyone still have hope?Did anyone remember that He promised He would rise again?

I can only imagine how much sorrow, fear, and anguish the followers of Jesus Christ felt during this time. Yet, we know from the Bible and history that tomorrow, on the third day, the tomb will be empty and Jesus has risen.

My hope is that this interlude will be a part of your time of reflection on Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

    Fred

  • Choices | Piano Instrumental [Episode 145, April 16, 2019]

“Choices” – Solo Piano Instrumental Music for Prayer, Meditation, Soaking Worship, Relaxation, Studying, and Rest

Every day we are faced with choices. We have the ability to make wise choices or poor choices. Some of our choices carry great consequences with ripples that can be felt throughout a lifetime. Other choices may seem entirely insignificant. The choices that we contemplate may be major decisions or they may be as simple as what we choose to eat for lunch.

I’ve been talking to my children about choices. I’ve also been journaling how I’ve been spending my time each day and it’s opened my eyes to the plethora of choices that I can make. One of those choices is whether or not I choose to make the choice!

Today you’ll have many choices to make. Preparing yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually is a great way to position yourself to make wise choices.

As you listen to today’s interlude, think about the choices you’ll be making. Pray and ask for guidance. Plan ahead for choices you’ll be faced with and make a decision about what your best choice will be.

Thank you so much for listening!

    About this piece:

This morning was a rush for me as I had some parental responsibilities that required me to leave the house much earlier than normal. I woke up at 5:00 AM for my Thursday morning workout but turned off the alarm and got back in bed. Ten minutes later, I defeated the struggle in my mind and rolled out of bed, got dressed, and drove to our location for the morning workout.

After returning, having my devotional time, and showering, I only had about 20-30 minutes before having to leave. I was going to skip the recording but felt like I should try. I sat down and this piece just flowed from my fingers. It was soothing for me and really set the tone for the rest of my day.

    I hope you enjoy it!
